MORE CB STRIKE, PLEASE
I love this (2) way too short, video series Need more, much, much more. The ultra handsome, scruffy, grungy Tom Burke as CB Strike is an acerbic, angry, heart broken, lost Private Detective. The antithesis of Hercule Poirot, George Gently & Inspector Morse. CB Strike, due to his disability has no $$$, no car, no place to live, no love of his life. He has NOTHING. However, he is intensely intelligent, deeply wounded emotionally & physically, longing for love & a real place in the world. His detecting & private eye skills are methodical, concerned & caring. His heartfelt concerns for his clients are almost overwhelming to him. His personal emptiness oozes from his shattered body. He reminds us of the Seville, Spain , Homicide Jeffe, FALCONE (another great (2) videos ! CB Strike has a warm heat, for his clientele,. His honesty & disgust are visible in the crimes that he works on. The heavy drinking he does seems to fuel his creative mind, in a much like Inspector Morse type of detecting. Crime makes CB Strike thirsty, booze makes him think. CB Strike is brave, somewhat frail & decent inside of himself. I just adore Tom Burke's portrayal of this darkly, broken man. The sensitivity, calmness & valor that he brings out in the character is astounding. CB Strike via Tom Burke, is a cynical, personal crisis driven detective that uses the methods of George Gently, Inspector Morse & Hercule Poirot all rolled into one person. I just love the series. Really great!

Great Chemistry
Having binge read the books, I was keen to binge watch the tv series partly to bring the characters to life, but also to see how much the series varied from the source material. In the end I enjoyed both in equal measure, the tv series abridging a lot of the book text but not losing any of the story telling or character nuances in doing so. The crimes with their detailed ferreting of the truth is not lost and the progression of the characters personal lives are just as complicated as in the books, that said the talents of the leads, Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger bring them vividly to life, more so with each episode. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and hope there are many more to be made in the future.

Interesting
The stories are interesting and well written. There is a lot of really crude language that is a bit off putting, but the story moves along quickly.

Does a good job following the books.
Very important that they haven't tried to make movies out of the Cormoran Strike Books, as they are much too long and complicated and better suited to the "limited series" format. The stories are presented well, and they have cast Strike perfectly. Holliday Grainger is good as Robin, but like Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher, she fails to meet the most striking feature of the character which is that she is TALL. Once you overlook that, these adaptations are very well done and I look forward to seeing more as Ms. Rowling writes more books...

Loved it!
Although the actors are not exactly how I pictured the characters while reading the books, the actors are Strike & Robin. I loved the subtext of the relationship and how well the actors portray the characters. My minor criticism is that Robin seems to be less assertive with Matthew, and more of a pushover with him in the books than the show indicates. If you are just watching the series, and haven't read the books, you might well wonder why they are even together.Oh while there are only two disks, all three series are there. It's a bit confusing as I expected three disks from looking at the packaging.
