Q: How far back inside of small i.d. can jaws go ?

The upper anvils can be used on a 0.350” diameter hole to a depth of 1.209” if the center of the hole is within 1.032” from the edge of the work piece. Any hole farther away, the depth capability would be reduced as the caliper display housing and thumb screw come into play. The lower anvils can be used on a 0.837” diameter hole to 2.780” depth which is the entire length of the anvils. Again, the housing can come into play and the depth capability will be reduced to 2.500” max depth, leaving the bottom of the housing on the workpiece making it difficult to get an accurate reading. I would not use it at any depth over 2.375”. This instrument is very handy and seems to be well made. It is quite touchy to use so be prepared to spend a little time measuring with it to get comfortable with how it feels. Glad we purchased it.

Q: What is the height of each jaw, will they do a .375 thick seal?

The top jaw is about 1.25 long & the bottom jaw is about 2.75 long. Yes you can measure a .375 seal, but only if it’s less than.25 deep.

Q: How much range from i.d. to the o.d.

Thank you for your interest in INSIZE! The 1176-150 caliper has two I.D jaws. The range of the upper jaws is .35-6"/9.150mm and the range for the lower jaws is .59-6"/15-150mm.

Q: How thick is the jaw?

The combined thickness of the jaws (when they are together) is 0.280 inches. The height of the measuring tips (to fit inside an internal groove) is 0.100 inch on the long reach side and .050 inch on the shorter side
