Allows Mac M1 devices have more than 1 additional Display
Worked out of the box. Had to download DisplayLink 1.3 display manager drivers. However these are easily obtained and installed. As soon as I plugged this into the USB output on my docking station and the other display directly out of the Mac and I now have 2 external devices even though this is a current issue with most recent Mac's.Great product, works every time.

USB3 to display port adapter, connected my raspberry pi4 to Apple Cinema Display
I’m a regular purchaser of startech.com products. This product was purchased after a in-depth conversation with a technical support, representative from Star Trek.com.They really know their product range which is why I am a happy returning.I wanted to plug a raspberry pi4 into my Apple Cinema Display, this adapter did the job,You just need to add an inexpensive display port to mini display port cable to complete the job.

An excellent product with fantastic support
An excellent product with fantastic support from the manufacturer, increases the output from my laptop to my 4k screen. Beware though it is reliant yon the CPU to do the work so a crapo old laptop is not going to work but a resonable spec machine can certainly make very good use of this.

Perfectly clear picture @2560x1600
Works perfectly with Dell U3011. First time in last 3 years after selling off my PC, I can see a clear picture @2560x1600, not some 2048x1200 or 1680x1050 that I had to use with my Intel HD4600.

This product is misleading. It is not a video ...
This product is misleading. It is not a video card and it will not miraculously increase the resolution of your external monitor. Nevertheless, it is marketed as a video card and priced as one. Overall, it is a fraud on part of Startech to sell this.

NOT suitable for colour critical works (same issue as Plugable)
PRODUCTPlugable USB 3.0 to HDMI 4K UHD (Ultra-High-Definition) Video Graphics Adapter for Multiple Monitors up to 3840x2160 (Supports Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7)PROs+ runs digital resolution up to 2560x1440px at 60Hz+ runs digital resolution up to 3840x2160px at 30Hz+ small and lightCONs- much more expensive than equivalent from Plugable- the contrast (darkest grey tones are turned to black, and lightest grey tones are turned to white) of the digital output signal is increased making it unsuitable for colour accurate worksExample: YouTube in night mode uses various black and very dark grey tones. Once I use this adapter, all dark grey tones turn black, and you can no longer differenciate sections.- 30Hz is awful for watching or processing movies or GIFs- installation a bit of a pain and slow (I thought the installer froze, but it just takes around 5 minutes without any visual progress)ORIGINAL ALTERNATIVEAll laptops with a proper docking station connector or USB Type C 3.0/3.1 could be considered such as those from Dell, HP, Lenovo.I am not recommending Toshiba docking stations because the company is close to bancrupcy.3rd PARTY ALTERNATIVEI have not yet found an alternative USB 3.0 display adapter that does not change the contrast of the digital video signal output. If you have a laptop that supports a proper docking station such as Lenovo T250/T450 models, HP Elitebooks, or Dell Latitudes you can attach 2 displays simultaneously via 2x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x DVI or 1x VGA D-Sub.
