Installed in my garden and it seems very sturdy, and that latching mechanism works flawlessly every time.

This gate latch was very easy to install in the wooden gate of our backyard deck (we wanted to replace the older on that had rusted and had too much 'play' in the parts).One suggestion for you: If your gate opens and reaches the railing of the deck, if you are using this to replace an old latch, and that old latch is similar, save the locking piece of the old latch and reuse it. We installed the locking piece of the old latch on the railing. Now we can open the gate and latch it into the railing if we want to have the gate stay open.

The gate latch works well. The only thing I noticed was that it was a bit thin on material. They could have made it a bit thicker for a more solid feel.

Surprisingly solid, sturdy latch for its type. Felt like I got a good deal and am happy with the quality. I think the design might be improved by making the screw-holes on the latch plate elongated so that the plate could be easily adjusted a little up and down as the fence post and gate settle and shift with time and seasons. Still, that is a minor quibble.Bottom line: For the money ($4.88), I count this as one the best valued purchases I have made on Amazon in the past year..
