Good heavy duty blades
The steel on these blades measures 1.7 mm thick on my cheap plastic calipers, which is good and heavy for machetes like these. The 18 inch blades fit my cheap canvas sheath perfectly. I also like the indestructible plastic handles, the same kind you see on commercial kitchen knives. Great value for the money! Five stars.

Good for beating around.
Wow! 2 machetes for five dollars!!! Great, right? It seems like a good deal, but I will point out the cons. The sharp part of the blade does not run along the entire length. Which, granted, is not that big of a problem. It starts about 3 inches from the handle. They did not come sharp, as most machetes don't, and it's a good thing too, because they were just wrapped in plastic, thrown in a box, and shipped. The packaging was not very good. If they had been sharp, undoubtedly they would have cut through the box.The blade was grinded very badly, it looks wavy and uneven, and the whole feel is cheap.However.....They are light, though, and they hold an edge, the handle is solid and will probably not come off, making these machetes good for the dirty work.Bottom line, they would have gotten 3 stars if there weren't 2 in the package. If you intend to use these mercilessly, great, they will hold up, but if you are looking for something nice, try some thing like theTrademark Colossal 25-Inch Heavy Duty Machete with Nylon Sheath, it is very sturdy, comes with a sheath and is presharpened, for only a little more money.

Machettes for Gardening
For various uses we use these Machettes for all types of garden projects. Seems we always go to our tools and find another use for them. They are high quality, quite sturdy, and watch out for a very sharp edge.We were pleasantly surprised to find out there were 2 in the package so have used them for door prizes for our garden club. We have had excellent feed back from those who won them and then used them. Great for trimming back things like Ornamental Grasses or stubborn vines--and other items that tend to take over a flower bed or fence.A word of caution. Like any potential weapon, and to avoid accidents, be sure to take safety precautions regarding the presence of children.

Cheap but decent.
They work well for clearing brush but can use a good sharpening out of the box. They're about what I expected for the price. If you're looking for high quality machetes, these aren't them. But if you just need a cheap tool for simple brush cleanup, this will do fine.

You get what you pay.
For the price not bad. They are light weight and blades limber. Now one at least had sorta of an edge. The other couldn't cut melted ice cream. thesorta edged one took a working edge without too much work. The dull one I had to use a grinder. No edge of any sort. While working on it one of the three handle rivets tumbled out. Hammer and punch fixed that, just never seated at factory. Got a working edge on it finally, but only because I know how to grind an edge.. Without grinding no edge could be obtained. Im giving them a three star but only because of the price.Additional Info: To see what would happen I took the one requiring grinding through a full sharpening. It took very little effort to get a shaving edge. Way too sharp for a machete, but it can be done with little effort, thats a definite plus.

Good for light brush
We got these to clear an area to fish in an old hidden pond. They worked fine for light brush clearing and kept a decent edge

EDMBG Set of 2 - Heavy Duty Machetes, 18" inch, Survival Knives for Home and Outdoors
Well, I have not had a chance to used them yet. I've used mostly old .mil issue, ontario's etc. - can't find stuff lately and not into what they charge for new now.So, anyway, wow, they don't wast money on packing and shipping, but, don't let the kid in a garage rolling it in lots of tap and old cardboard put you off to much, I guess. -- Arrived okay.First impression was, kinda shiny, so unsure of the is a carbon metal blade keep it oiled comments. But, yes, I guess if stored well could be that shiny. Also, - came with plenty of edge. Likely, "hand" ground, but, to a guide, so not "hand-ground", but not machine ground. Done well enough not to put me off.The handles, - well, I'm not going to drill the rivets to see under the handle. The "tang" is not run to the either edge of the handle which does put me off - allot actually. But, what I plan to do is, friction tape them as is and use'em to see. I'm not clearing acres of fields like I used to either. So, yes, you get two for that price, which makes any issues tolerable. I have some 9oz rawhide around, so will likely just rivet a slip for it and leave it lay in some corner I'll see, remember where it last was left. To get a solid 5-stars from me, I'd need to see metal, at least to one side of the handle so know if the tang is a solid piece or thin spike (why do that anyway, saves what?).Also, denim/canvas ain't expensive, and rivets are fast if don't want to sew, but a slip for the blade if even have to be careful in/outing it, for storage (not saying to hand off a belt for weeks and years and last, - just a stow it safety element. So, cardboard and goreilla-tape until I can get to the leather, now, additional work for this. With all the burger we eat in this country, why is rawhide such a special material?I hope that helps.I would not, as of now, not having used it, - buy again or refer a friend to it that didn't want to spend what the rest ask.
