I bought one of these years ago to quickly sharpen knives- but lost it in a move. This was before your see a lot of the carbide knife sharpeners you see today. It, like other carbide sharpeners will do 5th job, but it doesn’t do a good looking edge, it’s sharp though. I then started using this in exact blades as I am a profession electronic technician. It does a great job on those. Started using it on utility knife blades, and got good results as well.The original had an optional desk pad that this slips into. That really worked well too. I just clamp it with a quick clamp and your hand stays out of the way.

Simple, easy to use and it works. You can actually see the metal shaving collect as you sharpen. The cutters are at a set angle so if your blade is cut differently it takes a few passes to get it trimmed to the sharpener angle. Not a big deal. Works the best by pulling a little swiftly and with even pressure. You DO NOT need to bear down hard and don't let the blade chatter. As you are pulling the knife thru you can feel it getting smoother with each pass. The cutters are reversible as well. Hope this helps.

Makes my knife sharp

You're not going to get an edge that will cut a piece of falling silk. In fact, if you're familiar witht he arm-hair test, it won't quite get your knife that sharp.However, for taking three quick licks at it with a blade, the edge you get is impressive and in this area this sharpener really works well. A couple of tricks with this is that you have to get the edge of the blade 'rehabilitated' as in cut away the nicks and mistakes so that the whole edge is consistent. The other thing is to take it easy once you have the edge in shape -- not too hard does the trick. Once the edge has the right shape, you should only need 2 - 4 pulls on this with only the weight of the blade behind the effort.Pros:FastVery portable (I put one in my sheath with my Leatherman Wave)Reversible blades/replaceable bladesCons:Doesn't work with combo edgesNot the sharpest edge you;ll get but for five second's worth of work, it's hard to beat

simple , works great- about 3/4 passes and your knife will be razor sharp. Does put a blunt type sharping on it. But very sharp. it has a nice grip - and a flat bottom that allows you to hold it easly when using. one main feature I love , is that you can get the handle of the knife tight against the sharpener, this allows you to sharpen the whole blade, even on a small knife. Awesome buy !

Easy to grab out of the drawer, I pull the blade across it 3 times, then back in the drawer it goes. Does a great job!

These are they best I have ever used. I have spent lots of money on high dollar sharpeners that don't even come close to these. Great price for such a simple and perfect tool to sharpen my fillet knives.
