DVD Anne of Green Gables - The Collection - Trilogy

Absolutely loved it wasn't ruined by the dutch subtitles at all thought all the main charcters were so well acted Anne and her fiends were adorable Martin sheen was fantastic as Matthew Cuthbert in particular

This is an excellent set of DVDs that stick closely to the book and with fine acting.

I don't want to give too much away, but .....(comparing the first part of the story until she finishes school ONLY). The package and DVDs are fine. This is a DUTCH edition. The dialogue is in ENGLISH but there are ONLY DUTCH sub-titles.1) I saw "Anne with an e" first and thought the series and Anne could not possibly be improved; it was all perfect - except perhaps the story thread of the two gold fraudsters, which for me was given too much importance and went on too long.2) Then I watched the 1985 series with Megan Follows, and though that she was stupendous. I'm not saying I found this series better or inferior; it was just different, but the main characters were just wonderful. "Anne with an e" was more rich in terms of incident, and Moira added some elements and themes - which worked. BUT, the 1985 version was just great and is a must-see, too.3) I have watched LAST the 2016 version with Ella Ballentine and Martin Sheen. I didn't know her but Sheen is one of my favourite actors. He was awesome in "Badlands" and "The West Wing". This version seems like the 1985 version to follow the books more faithfully than Moira's does (I assume so, but haven't actually READ the books yet!). The actors are fine; Ella is sweet, but it hardt not to see Martin Sheen as the President! The actors in the other versions were unknown to me, and that was probably a better choice by the producers, making them seem (as they were) "ordinary" people. There are many moving monents,. but the action is more firmly centred on Anne herself compared to the Amybeth one. The rest you can decide yourself, but if you are an AOGG fan it is also worth watching.I won't choose a "winner" between these - what is the point? All were inspired by a love of Anne's story and all do their best to live up to its beauty and message. The last was the richest in terms of storylines though - but Megan Follows really did a wonderful job in 1985 - as did Amybeth.

I didn’t realise this was a Dutch import dvd. It’s English but I don’t think you can get rid of the Dutch subtitles.

We really enjoyed all 3 films in this collection. It was very well acted with believable characters.
