The Pakol or Pakul Cap is an Afghan / Pakistani headdress of woven wool (Sheep or Camel wool) from Nuristan / Chitral. Afghan refugees in Pakistan began after their expulsion from their homeland to wear this cap and so the Pakol soon became the symbol of resistance in Afghanistan. First of Pakol was more worn by Pashtuns. By Ahmad Shah Massoud but was increasingly becoming a symbol of the Northern Alliance. The Pakol is a 15 - 20 cm long tube made of woven wool to which a round lid is placed. The wool is sewn in several places to wrinkles, giving the Pakol a great shape. On the underside of the lid of Pakol is fed. This "wool tube" is then rolled up to individual taste
