The Chef's Knife I've Been Looking For!
The media could not be loaded. I've bought a lot of knives over the year, and they always end up falling short. I decided to give this Sedge knife a try because, after reading, I really wanted a Damascus steel blade.I was really impressed with the presentation and packaging for the knife when it arrived. It's a full-tang, Damascus steel blade, with a nice wooden handle. Like every knife you buy, it was sharp out of the box and performed well. I've had it for a month-and-a-half now and have used it as my daily go-to knife. It continues to exceed my expectations. It holds a really sharp edge, cutting just as smoothly as it did when I opened the box. The balance of the knife is perfect and it cleans easily. This knife could easily cost double making it an amazing deal. I can't recommend it enough!

AWESOME HANDLE AND FEEL. GREAT KNIFE!!!
I love this knife. It's beautiful. The weight is enough to give you real control over it as you use it and it sits SO comfortably in my hand that it's easily one of my favorite knives already (and I have Henckel 4-star and 5-star as well as Sabatier knives). If you buy this knife, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. It is NOT a flimsy knife. It holds an edge wonderfully and it slices incredibly well. There's no drag or resistance when you're using it and it feels incredibly natural. I TOTALLY recommend this knife.

High quality craftsmanship
I bought the set of four. These knifes are a beautifully made with high quality materials. I am almost hesitant to use them and instead display them as the work of art that they are. Initial tests using print paper shows they cut like a razor blade. I then compared them to my old knifes and made me wonder how I was able to work with them for so long. They come in beautiful boxes that make great elegant gifts. I can't say enough about these knives. Very happy with this purchase.

As sharp as its beautiful
I was looking for a serious knife to continue improving my cooking skills. I looked into several models, from softer steel to Damascus hard steel. The good models range from $100 to $300. I was set on paying around $100 or so for a chef's knife, and even had ordered already when I saw the Sedge knives. I canceled my order and switched to these, and I'm very satisfied. They are beautiful (I store them on a magnetic bar over the sink, so they are a beautiful display and easy to grab when I need them) and so sharp! I still think they can be even sharper when I get some whetstones and get them sharpened!

Full Tang Knife retains its sharp edge
WHAT'S GOOD1. Sharp knife - haven't had to sharpen, or even hone this knife after much usage. Cuts flawlessly2. Good weight and balance3. Solid construction - Full tang extends all the way through the wood handleWHAT'S NOT SO GOOD1. Nothing as yet - I'd say the perfect knifeSame comments apply to the paring/kitchen knife I also bought

Don't be careless, it's a true chef knife, scary sharp.
This is one beautiful knife, both to the eye and the hand, and superbly sharp. The photo does no justice to the knife, as the handle and blade design impresses far more when held. The balance is appropriate for such a knife, and the larger grip suited the person I gifted with it perfectly. I like it very much.

Item not as pictured does not show any Damascus designs as shown in the Amazon add. I ordered the item twice and both knives where the same no design as pictured although they are razor sharp and appear to be of good quality and a nice handle and well balanced. Advertised as lifetime warranty but the knife does not come with any warranty card or any literature describing the product. I took a chance and kept the 2nd knife which was bought as a Christmas gift so if it is defective I guess I'm screwed!

Well designed, poorly made, fake Damascus.
First off, this knife is NOT Damascus, the pattern is laser etched into the blade. You can tell because the pattern stops abruptly at the heel of the knife and doesn't extend to either the pommel or the spine. I might try polishing the pattern out and etching it myself just to see for sure, but I doubt it is actually welded pattern Damascus. The grind is pretty Amateur as well. No distal taper along the spine down to the tip, just the same width till the end, then a sudden point. Also there's a bump along the bolster where it's supposed to be a smooth transition. The knife is full tang (which is good) but the edge where the metal meets the handle wasn't ground properly and there's a prominent bump. It's claimed as a high carbon steel, but when I went to re-profile the edge; because it sucked, a Burr would develop way too quickly and prominently for how hard the knife was supposed to be.It's not a terrible knife though. It's attractive as hell. The handle, pins and shape are beautiful and the balance is right where it should be but for the price and the false advertising, this knife gets one star.
