does keep quick eating down slightly. Like that you can unscrew the prongs and wash all in the dishwasher. I have one that is at least 7 years old. A great product for my needs

This is the exact feed bowl I bought 4 years ago for my gobbling Westie. The original needed to be replaced because the rubber around the rim cracked.

I have five dogs, most of whom are polite eaters. One is an organic vacuum cleaner. He inhales his food, then tries to push into the other's bowls. His gobbling makes him a stinky gas bag too. That guy can clear a room! I bought this bowl with stanchions in hopes of slowing him down. Wow! He now finishes last! He has found out what it feels like to have other dogs eyeing HIS bowl. The gas issue has greatly reduced too. I know he was the main stink producer, because he is never more than four feet away from me. The clingy type. I highly recommend this bowl if you have a speed eater with bloating problems. It WORKS!UPDATE: It's been a month or so since the above review was written. I do have some complaints about this bowl now. You do have to unscrew the stanchions before washing, or you will have a buildup of food particles under them. Could get nasty. Also, while the bowl and stanchions are stainless steel, the rims at the base of the stanchions are not, so they have started rusting. Not happy about that. Finally, the rubber rim on the bottom of the bowl keeps slipping up while the dog is eating (pushing the bowl around), which causes exposed metal that is scraping across the tile floor. I have now ordered a different bowl of the slow-eating type, but it is made of heavy plastic.

This applies to the SMALL bowl - I needed a metal slow-feeder and this was the only decent one I could find. I read a lot of reviews and understood the bacteria etc concerns everyone has and purchased the Everbilt 1000 049 740 Tubular slip joint washer assortment. There are 2 in this package that could work, one is a gray circular slip joint that fits perfectly under the screw in cylinders and another is a green reducing size washer that goes well upside down under the cylinders. I'm not sure which works better as they both seem to work well. Each package has only 1 of each of these so you will need at least 2 packs, or 3 if you want to use all 3 of the same (slip joints of reducing size washers).I still wish the slow feeding cylinders were part of the continuous metal piece and not screw ons, but until someone makes this - this will have to do! Hope this is helpful to someone!

This bowl has made SUCH A DIFFERENCE in the way our Norfolk Terrier eats! He used to bolt his food down and the vomit it back up. He was so nervous around feeding time. We tried various things with him: feeding him away from other dogs; feeding him outside. But he was just so nervous! The change with this bowl (and NOTHING ELSE!) was like magic! HE SETTLED DOWN! After about a month I now feed him 5 feet away from my Peke and there are ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS! He eats like a normal dog! Nice and slow! No nervousness! No vomiting! He doesn’t go over to her bowl! He doesn’t dance around! He’s a DIFFERENT DOG! I’d write a testimonial for this company and so would my daughter! The bowl is the ONLY THING WE CHANGED! It IS a game changer!

Was not aware couldn’t wash in dishwasher. Plus the stanchions in bowl were not molded in the design leaving promoting bacterial build up.

This bowl really works. My dog now eats meals much slower. The bowl is a good quality product and easy to keep clean. Thanks

We already have one of these for our older labrador and now we have a new addition to the family a second one was needed. Would thoroughly recomend this product.

Shipping was fast. That’s the only reason there is a star in the first place.Like others said, and I wish I would have read this before purchasing, I use this to feed raw and those cones are letting water sip under them. I received it today and realized right away that this was a mistake, even if it would have been for kibbles. I wish I would have went for the other bowl I saw instead but I really thought the cones and the bowl were just one piece of metal. No wonder it doesn’t cost too much.
