At the price, superior to most of the options in the marketplace
10/17 update: This product continues to operate magnificently with rock solid reliability. The monitoring has given me incredible insight into the activation patterns of my main sump pump. Living in Virginia, we have had a ton of rain this summery. Some days I had more than 300 activations of my primary pump. Then, when the ground dries out, the main pump activations tapers off - unless rain comes back. The backup continues to test itself but there is no "positive" reporting of that. I actually like that it reports an issue on that whenever there is a real issue. Only alert I have had since my review is that the primary pump ran a cycle longer than normal. Still wish PumpSpy would allow you to configure the number of gallon pumped per cycle to get a better reading on the gallons pumped. But one can calculate it easily from the cycle count.6/22 original review:Having suffered a failure of my primary (air lock) and battery backup pump (not this model) in my basement and 2+ inches of water, I scoured the marketplace to identify a battery backup pump which could do the following: monitor and TEST itself, pump nearly the same gpm as my primary pump, reuse my existing wet 75 Ah battery, and not rely on WiFi for notifications. Well, this system met all of those needs. I am on day 3 following its installation, and it has restored confidence in protecting my basement in the future. I really can't figure this company out - they have a few informative and entertaining YouTube videos comparing its solution to the one that failed me, and to other backup pumps in the marketplace. At the price, and in my opinion, this solution is superior to all other options out there in the marketplace from more known brands such as Zoeller, Myers, etc. And look closely, those rely on WiFi! This thing needs to be marketed more or something. This system uses a GSM connection (think AT&T 1G) which is perfect for this application given the amount of data that ever needs to be transmitted to you. And it works if there is a power outage or GFCI trip (this unit will send you a notification of that event btw - it senses that there is no power from the circuit it is plugged into). And the notification service is free - yes, free! You don't need LTE in this type of scenario folks. Getting the antenna in the right spot was the only hangup I had during the setup. PumpSpy was extremely responsive and helpful with a procedure to re-initialize the connectivity and it worked perfectly after that. I can't comment yet on the self-testing functionality - it states it will do this at random three times a week. I had tested my old backup pump 2 weeks before it failed - so this feature is very important to me. I will provide an update once I get more notifications that it has done that. It will also advise on issues with the battery should anything happen. Installation was very straightforward and the plumbing parts should be done and tight before ever plugging in the PumpSpy. I have a wye-connection to allow the primary and backup to go into the same discharge pipe. The PumpSpy will immediately start testing itself when you plug it in! So be mindful of that. I did place the pump on a brick to keep it elevated off my sump pit so it did not pickup unnecessary debris. One concern I have going forward concerns the weep hole. For the PumpSpy, the weep hole is integrated into the thermoplastic base. I may drill a hole in the discharge line as a protection against it getting sealed up on the backup pump from hard water or debris. I looked at NexPump, Myers, Zoeller, iON, Red Lion, and some others. None met my requirements the way that the PumpSpy did. I was not compensated in any way for supplying this review. I bought it myself after several hours of Internet time reading reviews, forum posts, and manufacturer technical specifications.

Great unit but DOESN'T INCLUDE BATTERY
This does what it says but the advertising implied that it included everything you needed. It does not include the battery which is an extra $200. Would like to see the advertising be clearer and the price come down. Overall the technology is great.

Love this thing... Highly recommended!!
Really impressed with everything about the SumpSpy. My battery died on my Basement WatchDog and wanted to get a maintenance free battery but my unit could not support so decided it was time to upgrade. As I started looking, I ran into this product. We have a finished basement with a lot of woodwork and I'm always nervous when I hear that rain coming down hard and the main sump runs every 10 seconds. Decided it was worth paying a little more for this backup pump and glad I did.Really simple to install even with all the extra bells and whistles. These products which hook up to mobile apps or physical equipment historically are a PITA to get working. But this was extremely simple. Just enter the serial number and relevant details (ie email, phone to text, etc) on the website and everything connects as designed. I downloaded the app, put in my user & password, and can see all data of my sump pit for both primary and backup pumps.I gave it a quick test by unplugging the main pump during a rain storm, and sure enough I received a text message and email once it lost power and texted me again when I plugged it back in. Also texts the battery level when at 50% or critical so you have time to get a new battery if needed.Very happy with my purchase and hoping it continues to work this well for a long time to come.

Well designed and excellent value
I spent quite a bit of time looking for that perfect combination of value and performance until I found these guys. Nobody else monitors both pumps and detects things like excessive current and run times. You could pay 2x to just have a single connected backup pump. Install was a piece of cake using their dual pump kit and Liberty 257 as a main pump. Backup pump is beefy and seems well made. Do keep in mind you'll need a larger clamp (2 3/4") to install backup floats on the Y pipe. After that plug it in, run through tests and activate monitoring account. Was up and running in minutes. Support response to questions was very quick as well.Things I'd improve: documentation. It's not obvious for example that alerts are instant but pump counts come once a day. I almost wonder if say a customer support forum would answer most of the questions. Ability to see more low level info would be handy too- pump current plots vs time for example. But that's just an engineer in me. Another suggestion- throw a temperature sensor in. Cheap and lets people away from home also know their furnace is still alive.

Smart. Works. Buy It.
Highly recommend this if you want a true backup that will adequately alert you to issues. Posted a picture of the notifications I received when I had an issue with the main pump not activating. In my case, it turned out that the clamp holding the backup switches had slid down and was tripping before main pump did. The pumpspy did excellent notifying me of the problem and gave me real world confidence in it. It alerts in real time with virtually no delay. The audible alert like most systems is simply not adequate to be heard through two floors, but notifications to both my phone and my wife's is. The cell signal was strong in my basement and I had no issues with it. I have not had any issues accessing real time information via the app and nerd out a bit looking at the daily total run cycles. The pump itself is nothing overly special and appears well made. The connectors are color coded and dummy proof. Two floats for backup give extra protection and redundancy. Bought non pump spy AGM battery which worked without issue (make sure physical dimensions fit). Operation is simple with one button and display is backlit and easy to read in the dark.
