AC Adapter/Battery Charger for Asus Laptops

I purchased this charger after my original charger for my Asus F555UA laptop (purchased from Costco) broke. Immediately after receiving the package in the mail I plugged in the charger to my laptop and to my dismay the charging status showed "plugged in, not charging". It would allow my computer to hold a charge at whatever percentage it was at, but would not charge it further. I tried to do some trouble shooting but nothing seemed to work.Day 2 with the charger I decided to update my laptop to Windows 10 over night. The next morning the charging status changed to "plugged in, Charging", and proceeded to work very well since then.I'm not sure whether it was the trouble shooting, the update, or just allowing my laptop to get used to the charger, but a few weeks later I still use it and it works great.EDIT:Like other people have said, The charger does get EXTREMELY HOT. This may pose as a fire hazard or other danger. Once you get it charging, you will not be able to hold the charger in your hand for more than a few seconds. It does work, but I WOULD NOT recommend buying this charger. It is a serious safety hazard. I do not use it anymore. I voted two stars simply because it does do it's job as a charger, it is just not safe.

My laptop was a display-product, which meant that the people who had it in their store had it connected to their outlets 24/7.To my surprise, they also failed to send me the correct adapter which taught me a very important lesson. ALWAYS ask for the genuine brand adapter if you're getting a floor model, because the salespeople no nothing about voltage compatibility apparently.The good thing was that I was able to get my other siblings the same laptop that came fresh out the box. In case you're wondering, we purchased the ASUS K53SV model since it was such a great price. If you're buying an adapter for it, just know that it MUST MUST MUST have an adapter with EXACTLY 19V 4.74amps on output and 240V 1.5amps on input at 50/60Hz.It took me a while to realize that my old "in-store" adapter was only pushing out 16V on output which caused the adapter to cut out and get extremely hot after long periods of use. After taking a gander at my other family members adapters I realized the mistake they've made and purchased this adapter.Out of the box its pretty standard, what I like is that it also comes with a Velcro strap on the cord that most knock-off adapters don't have. It also has an elbow shaped plug which is what I was looking for in adapters of this type but was incredibly hard to find for some reason. Most of all is that the Voltage fit my laptop exactly. And a 12 month warranty sealed the deal.Overall it's been 3 months and it's still working great. Recommending this charger to anyone who needs one!UPDATE AFTER A YEAR OF CONTINUOUS USAGE! May/28/2014-----------------------------------------So after an entire year of constant usage, all I have to say is that for a replacement adapter, this product exceeded my expectations. For the record, I received this product on the 25th of May, 2013. Also I realized why the guy threw only a one year warranty on the thing, because LITERALLY after a year this adapter shorted out on me while I was at my new office at work! Yikes! A 2-3 year warranty would be nice IMO. Just saying!Nonetheless however, this product is definitely a "What you see is what you get." You get exactly what you pay for, a charger on the cheap that will last you quite a bit in a pinch! And this is still indeed a great charger in terms of a replacement, and leaps and bounds better than the other ones I've bought. I liked the performance of it so much that I went ahead and bought another one despite the thing breaking on me, it is THAT reliable. All I would say is that when you buy this item, that you better make SURE you get ready to look for a replacement or save up for an OEM adapter because it WILL die on you in exactly one year when you buy it! Hmm who knows, perhaps I will look into seeing if I can get the old baby fixed :)

If ever a product earned a 3 star rating, it was this one. Let's start with the overview: This charger works, and is a cheap alternative to a name-brand charger. Now for the more specific breakdown:PROS: It charges my laptop.CONS: When the adapter heats up (which is pretty much right away) it makes an extremely high pitched wailing noise that, while inaudible to people over the age of 40, is quite annoying to me. It sounds kind of like a teakettle whistling a few rooms away.Summary: If you have already lost the upper range of your hearing, this is the charger for you.

Feels lighter than the stock ASUS charger, but is performing well. It actually fits into my laptop more firmly than the stock replacements. The at the end 'L' also feel more durable and less like the cord will wear out and fray eventually (one stock ASUS did this for me). It look a bit more generic cheap, but frankly that means very little to me considering how little I look at my charger really. All said, I feel better about this charger than the other ASUS ones I've had.

I've owned this charger for less than a week now. and it's already stopped working. It worked the first two times I plugged it in so I figured I was one of the few who didn't get a defective item sent to them. Sadly that assumption was incorrect and I am now sending this back for a refund. Save your time and buy a legit asus charger or just a better one than this crap, especially if you're a college student like me who can't afford to miss online assignments.

I was very upset when my laptop wouldn't charge. I am fairly computer illiterate when it comes to how things work. I was hoping this would solve the problem and it did! It came quickly and works fine. Very happy I ordered from Amazon.

This charger works with many ASUS laptops however I do not think it is made for them. It runs EXTREMELY HOT (read: burns at touch, has melted label off the back) and flickers on and off if you are doing anything CPU intensive, which can damage your computer. I think it is pulling way too much power. It is also not grounded. I do not feel safe using it and, honestly, will probably not even go through the hassle of returning it as the cost of shipping will be halfway to buying a new one. Not sure what this is made for but it can probably fry your laptop if you let it. Beware

This charger was melting a whole through itself. It could have caught my house on fire if I didn't catch it in time. I bought it to replace an official asus charger that was chewed up by my cat. I will never go with an off brand again. I'd now rather buy the name brand charger and spend more than buy a cheap one and risk loosing my whole house.
