I’ve used a few products from Nillkin and always found them to be a decent brand, so when I was offered the opportunity to test this I was very interested.It’s a simple concept, a couple of magnetic adhesive rings. Mount one to your device and the other to the surface on which you want to mount your device. In my case that’s a 13” iPad Pro and my vehicles dashboard.The product is well presented and well packaged, like I’d expect from Nillkin. The rings/plates themselves feel good but they are thicker than I’d hoped, particularly the one for the back of the device. I switch my iPad regularly between a case and a “Magic Keyboard”, this means I can’t have a thick chunk permanently fixed to the back. I think I am going to have to buy some kind of folio case, cut the front of it and then stick the Nillkin mount to the rear of that..So, whilst it may not suit my application perfectly, if you never use any kind of case or dock on your tablet, or you have just one case that is never removed, then this will likely be perfect for you. The actual magnet strength is excellent, very strong.

I’ve only used half of the kit as I wanted a removable mounting solution for the fridge. I have this stuck to an Ideal branded Android tablet. The magnetic ring that sticks to the back of the tablet is quite low profile, protruding only a couple of millimetres when fitted and has a very powerful grip on any metallic surfaces.The adhesion bonds to the back of the tablet well and it’s safe to say once this is on, it’s a permanent fixture. My tablet is about the same weight of an iPad Air 11” model for comparison and once I attach to the fridge it doesn’t move. I also have a magnetic back to the desktop enclosure and a metallic stand, so the magnetic ring has a few uses in my case.I’ve not used the wall side of the mount but I have tried the magnetic force between the two parts and the hold is really strong, enough to hold the heaviest of iPads in my opinion. The wall mount side is a little thicker, approx. 8mm. It’s worth mentioning that if you want to be able to use a case with the tablet, the ring is thick enough to affect the fitting of any case options so worthy of consideration before purchase. We use this particular tablet for audio books and catching up with series watching, so it’s not a cased tablet in our use which means this solution was perfect.Included in the pack is a couple of protective film disks that will prevent the ring fixing from damaging surfaces. There is a small folded leaflet that I imagine is some sort of product instructions but it looks to be written in Mandarin so not much use to me…
