Tacky the Penguin

This is a very silly and fun book. I just got it about an hour ago and we’ve read it twice with the kids. However I do believe the price should be less for it. But hey!!, we own it now and the kids love it.

Tacky's series is one of the things I look forward to when teaching arctic/antarctic animals. Tacky is an "odd bird", but his oddness is beneficial. Tacky is fun. I dress my large Emperor penguin in a Hawaiian shirt and he helps me read to the class.

I read this book as a first grade teacher and love the lesson of inclusion. Bought it for a great nephew and he loved it.

We especially liked the way that Tacky managed to save his friends. They decided he wasn’t so bad after all.

Tee Hee! Tacky the penguin is an oddball or at least that is what his penguin friends Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly and Perfect think! Why? Well let's see... Tacky doesn't greet them quietly and politely, he doesn't march in time, he can't dive gracefully and you should hear him sing! One day however, the hunters arrived. What do all the other penguins do? Hide! What does Tacky do?A truly delightful story reinforcing the fact to young children that it is alright to be different and in fact being different can, at times, have a distinct advantage. I am not advocating bad manners here nor do I think the author is either. Balance is everything but children do not have to all be the same nor do they all need to follow the crowd. Individuality is the key. This book was on our son's second grade "Suggested Reading List" so I purchased this USED from Amazon. I was not required to do a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz

Has been an honored book since my son brought it home from school. I was so excited to buy it for my granddaughter. it was good quality and a lot of fun

This brought back so many wonderful memories of my first grade teacher reading this book to us in class. It was a favourite of hers and I couldn’t help but smile while I thought of her, as I read it. My teacher was a lot like Tacky, in all the best ways.

Lovely story for children. Enjoyed reading it with my children and now with my grand-daughter. Timeless.

adorable album qui conte l'histoire d'un pingouin extraordinaire...rejeté par les autres parce qu'il est différent et au final, héros de cette petite communauté qu'il sauve parce qu'il est original.mes petits élèves ont bien aimé cette histoire ( gs de maternelle)

ich habe jahrelang versucht, dieses buch zu bekommen, wußte aber seinen titel nicht mehr. in der amazon.com-werbung für den kindle fire kids edition hab ich es entdeckt und wenigstens die englische version runtergeladen. manche teile daraus sind auch mehr als 20 jahre nach dem ersten vorlesen für meine kinder auf deutsch noch beliebte zitate.
