Emilie Simon

I came across Emilie Simon when searching YouTube for something else. And I'm so glad I did!Having watched/listened to several numbers online, I decided to download this album so that I could listen at my leisure. Desert (the opening track) is my favourite and is ethereal and enchanting, but to be honest the whole album is highly engaging and there is a great/unusual cover of "I Want To Be Your Dog" which (obviously) sounds completely different from the original.I'm glad that I stumbled onto this artist and can't believe that she hasn't had any real airplay in the UK. A beautiful and unique singer who deserves to be heard.

I will never tire of this music, I can play it repeatedly as it never gets old. This is how music should be made!

I bought this album after listening to it at the headphone stand in fnac when I was on the French exchange 4 years ago. I still listen to it all the time. Many of her tracks feature on playlists I've created. She always ends up on CDs I give to friends of great songs they must listen to. She's sort of a mix between Nouvelle Vague and Emiliana Torrini but nothing like them. She's completely individual. Tracks like Chanson de Toile are so haunting but just absolutely beautiful, full of violins and light tinklings of harp. Just like nothing you've ever heard but still so simple and accessible eventhough some tracks are in French. If I can envisage any album that will just stick and I'll still be playing when I'm 60 this is the one. An absolute gem!

Emilie Simon is one of the newcoming young french artists who are doing pretty well at the moment. Her first release is a truly amazing and surprising album. Her voice is sensual, moving and she sings in both french & english. The music has been cleverly mixed and some songs are stunning. I am already looking forward to her next album as this one stayed in my walkman for weeks and I could not get tired from each song. Hope you will like it too...
