Adequate to task.
I bought this to keep some 12"x18" targets damage free in the back of the car. It does the trick nicely. It's pretty good sized; probably a bit bigger than I needed. The quality of the bag is so-so; you're getting what you pay for here. It's a flimsy, polyester type, fabric bag. If I needed to protect loose art work, I would not purchase this as it really is not well suited to the task. For things like drawing pads or otherwise bound artwork, it should be sufficient. As I mentioned, my needs were to protect paper targets that we use for the range. These are typically 12"x18" (I buy them on Amazon; EZ2C and Splatterburst profile targets). I like to just leave these in the back of the car so they're always there when we go to the range. Needless to say, putting anything else back there will damage the targets. Now I can keep them undamaged and I even have a case I can take into the range (as opposed to just grabbing a couple to carry in loose).

Great buy!
I minored in art in college and I had a lot of art work left over that I did receive back after each of my classes ended. Some things I didn't get back, or it was given away, and others have actually been displayed around my house and other relatives houses; however, I didn't have the room for everything so I went ahead and bought this portfolio to hold all of my remaining work. I didn't want anything to damage over time, so I keep everything here. It holds a lot of stuff and doesn't take up a lot of room, which is good. And it's nice having all of my work in one spot rather than all over my room where ever I had found room for it. I too left the cardboard in it for support as I didn't want anything to bend and get damaged that way. Overall, this is a really great storage portfolio, and I would recommend it for anyone that needs some means of organization of their artwork. It's also a really great means of transporting your work without having to figure out a way to carry it around without damaging it.

Great bag for transporting presentations!
I ordered this to carry some architecural presentation boards to a meeting. This is a great bag, I was able to get (6) 30"x42" presentations mounted on foam core in this bag for transport. There is a handle in the center of the bag which you cannot see in the picture but it certainly makes the bag easier to carry when full of large boards. I am short so the sholder strap isn't useful for me. The other nice thing about this bag is it is easy to store. I have had hard side bags in the past for carrying presentations and they are very difficult to store in an upright position with out them bending. I was able to roll this bag up and slip it in a storage tube at the office. This was a great purchase and this product is MADE IN THE USA!

but some bad ones, so here is my experience
Noticed the reviews are mostly positive, but some bad ones, so here is my experience: I am required to take 2 "art" classes to get my associate's degree at my local community college, so I picked up drawing. I store two 18"x24" newsprint pads in it to carry around campus. It works perfectly fine. The handles are both holding up just fine, but it only carries about 5-10 pounds of paper. It keeps the paper nice and dry. It fits everything with a few inches of wiggle room so nothing gets damaged. I do keep the cardboard in it that it came with for structural security. Wouldn't recommend for a hardcore art major or anything, but for everything less than that it is more than adequate. Also, I don't know what this "maroon" business is, but mine is the EXACT same color of plum purple that's in the photo.

Basic Portfolio
I got the Tran Economy Portfolio, 18 x 24, in plum. It's pictured as purple but it's really burgundy, as shown in the picture I posted. The dimensions are 20 1/4" x 26 5/8", and when an 18 x 24 masonite board or drawing board with paper is tucked in it rests just below the zipper. The shoulder strap is detachable on one side and adjusts from 27" to 48". It's made in Portland, OR and not China, which surprised me. It is an economy bag at a bargain price but I wish it had an extra pocket for drawing supplies, so I give it four stars not five.

It is Okay, but Not That Durable
I bought this portfolio bag to transport art work to and from school. I am a student, and I work at home fairly often. The bag itself has performed alright. The zipper is still holding after about a year and the strap and handle are alright. I am beginning to see a lot of light through the bag itself. It has not ripped, but it has thinned so much that it is on the verge of having a serious hole. It is always full of artwork, so I couldn't really treat it any more gently. It is a relatively cheap item. I think it is alright for the price. However, if you are planning to use it once or twice a week for any length of time, you might want to keep looking.

Awesome for Art students!
I bought this for my daughter after I saw what a hard time she was having using her previous one without a shoulder strap; it was very heavy and she still had her backpack and another case to carry. She LOVED this one!! Thank you so very much; she packs it, and loves that she can still handle the weight; and the fact that she has freed her hand to carry the other case is priceless. Her previous one was heavy without anything inside. I still get her thanks every time she uses it...so, thanks again.

Sturdy and versatile
Just what I was looking for. I'm a photographer and use it to store/carry bounce cards and even small pieces of surface and backdrop material. Fabric is thick and construction seems good. Time will tell if the straps hold up but so far so good. I like that this one has both a short handle and a longer shoulder strap for when my hands are full.
