SISUN PW4101 3.5" Full Aluminum Floppy Drive Slot 4 x SATA HDD Power Switch Control / Protection cover (4x Switch)

I needed a reliable means of dual booting Windows 7 & Windows 10 on my desktop machine - some of my essential music & video making software is venerable, & will not run under Win 10.So I have created a machine that has 2 SSDs, one with each operating system on, each installed while the other was disconnected so that they are unaware of each other.I tried to create a BIOS dual boot, but I could then no longer boot into either version, even using F12 on boot up & selecting the required drive in the BIOS. However the systems were still there, as I could disconnect either drive & boot quite happily using the other.My quick & dirty method was to keep one side off the computer case & to disconnect the SATA cable for whichever drive I didn't want. But that isn't workable over time, as it must weaken the connections & does not produce the correct cooling airflow inside the case - not to mention being an electrical safety hazard.So I bought this Sisun, which is an updated version of one that has been on the market for some years. This works by wiring accessible push switches into the power wiring to the drives, so that individual drives can be isolated by cutting their power. The unit fits a 3.5in bay - though these days these are uncommon, so I needed a 5.25in adapter tray, which is readily available on this site.Installation is relatively simple - but I have to say you are better off throwing the instructions away & relying on the images that appear for the item on this site [the instructions are very poorly translated - the unit is Chinese - and are also clearly for the previous version which had the cabling plugged in vertically into the top of the unit, which according to reviewers made it hard to install if you only had one empty slot height].All necessary cables are provided - two separate cables providing power TO the unit, & 4 cables in a bundle providing switchable power OUT of the unit: all cables are clearly marked & only fit one way. The cables out to the 4 drives are clearly numbered at both ends, corresponding to how the switches are numbered on the front of the unit, so you should not be able to make a mistake.I have noted one thing to watch: there can be sideways stress on the power cables out of the unit's switches - which now plug in horizontally, saving a lot of height. This is because the cables are bundled together into a plastic cover quite close to the switches. I found it easy to pull through a little more on each cable where needed [NOT of course pulling on the terminal - pull on the cable...] which means that they lie a little easier & more freely.Other reviewers have remarked upon the brightness of the LEDs: I don't personally find that this an issue, but other past reviewers of the unit comment on methods to counter this.All in all, it does exactly what I need: my case is now safely enclosed and I can boot into whichever system I need at the push of a switch or two.

This cost me hours and hours of stress, 1 Graphics card, 1 Hard drive due to the fact it had milli second power drop out but after explaining the fault I was refunded my money so beware!!!!

I'm using this on a multi OS system (Windows 7, XP and Linux) saves, what I consider, all the hassle of a multi-boot. Works well buttons have a positive click, construction is all metal with a nicely printed fascia.Only issue I had was it was very tight in my case and I could imagine the Sisuns black coating being scratched off as I pushed it in, still you can't see this when it's installed so not really an issue, might be tricky to take out though.Worth considering if you have the need to isolate different drives, there are a few of these on sale I picked this as it looked the best made of the lot, I don't regret my choice.

Saves Bio's motherboard set ups running Windows 7 & Windows 10 from a gigabyte motherboard. switch off a storage drive with backups on. Works very well.

Cabe a la perfección en una bahía de dispositivo de 3,5". Su finalidad puede ser variada dependiendo de la circunstancia: desde limitar el desgaste de disco duros innecesariamente encendidos, ahorro energético o seleccionar por ejemplo un disco de arranque diferente.Las instrucciones son muy escuetas, en inglés y además están diseñadas para el modelo antiguo que no tenía tapa superior y la conexión SATA se realizaba desde arriba. Aun así la instalación no tiene ningúna complicación siempre y cuando se tengan 2 conectores de alimentación SATA libres para poder conmutar los 4 interruptores.El precio me parece un poco alto teniendo en cuenta su funcionalidad, aun así es de los más económicos que se pueden encontrar.
