Siphon Drinker 5 Gallon

Very difficult to clean inside. You can hit it with the hose to rinse it, but biofilm cannot be scrubbed off the inside as the openings are too narrow to fit much through. Each time the water at the bottom empties and "glugs" air into the chamber, it also sucks up muck that accumulates in the water trough portion. This then creates a muddy inside. I rinse the trough at least once a day, but my ducks instantly fill it with mud and the large water chamber becomes contaminated with the refill of the trough process. Additionally, I think this is probably better for chickens, because the water trough at the bottom only fills approximately an inch deep. Ducks definitely need something deeper. Well built, but the opening at the top needs to be much larger for thorough sanitation, the trough should refill deeper, however the construction works well.

Very nicely made, and this will be perfect in warm weather. In Colorado winter it froze solid despite the addition of salt water bottles in the top and bottom reservoirs. Completely useless at this time of year. It would be great in a warmer climate.

Once you figure out how to use it this waterer is great. Written instructions with it would go a long way in receiving a 5 star rating!
