and fine. At first he didn't shed at all
We had adopted a black and mostly white mixed boxer/border collie a couple of months ago. His fur is short, silky, and fine. At first he didn't shed at all, but after a month of being an indoor dog, he began to shed a lot, and I found myself constantly running a lint roller over my clothes. The brushes that had worked well on our German Shepherd didn't work well on this dog at all. So, I got this curry brush today in the mail and really didn't expect much. Boy was I surprised when it just pulled tons of loose fur out, and the dog loved being brushed with it. Other reviewers are right about it being a good idea to use this brush outside because of the copious amounts of hair it removes. Since we are setting record low temperatures, I chose to brush my dog in the house on tile and mop up all the hair. It's really pretty amazing what this brush takes off!! Great buy for very little cash.

Works great on shorthaired dogs
I do weimaraner rescue and I always recommend this type of rubber curry brush for short haired dogs. If you brush in a circular motion and then also in a normal manner it really gets all the hair out and loosens up any dirt. I use it with shampoo too when I'm giving the dogs baths. It feels like a massage to them I would imagine. The "bristles" are short and not hard (a soft rubber). Only minus is there is not strap or handle on it and it may be easier for some to hold onto it if it had something there. Price was not that great. I've bought these at tack shops for $2.00

It's a Miracle Brush!!!
I bought this brush once, over 10 years ago at a pet store for my boxer Tigger (RIP buddy) I know have a rescue pit/boxer mix-velvety hippo-love bug. I looked everywhere for this brush with no luck in both nyc & nj. I was sooO EXCITED when Ifinally found it on amazon. Its the best brush out there, I know it looks weird but it totally WORKS!!!!. Dogs love it, they might be tempted to chew on it since its all rubbery, so make sure you keep it out of their reach. Im amazed how big pet store brands dont carry it?? It truly is amazing. One single session of pet brushing and you wont believe how much hair comes off your fur baby. I highly recommed you brush your dog outdoors. Not only do you take tons of hair off your dog but it can also help in removing excess hair off furniture, dog bed/dog mat and also help during bath time!!And its so easy to clean!! You wont regret it!

Just doesn't do the job for my bulldog
I was so excited to get a brush for my bulldog that would actually cut down on her shedding. Well, this brush isn't it. It reminds me of a curry comb for horses, just ineffective. Its rather large, with no strap or handle to hold and although it does collect tiny hairs, the big wads I was hoping it would capture simply fall on the floor. Also, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to brush in one direction, make circular movements or back and forth on her coat. She thinks it's a new toy anyway, so maybe I'll just let her chew the bejesus out of it. Very disappointed with this brush, luckily it was only $6

... in the brush when we're brushing him which is annoying. It works great as a wet brush
I find that my dog's fur won't stay in the brush when we're brushing him which is annoying. It works great as a wet brush, and it does get his fur out and he doesn't seem to mind, I just wish it held onto his fur so we weren't picking it off the floor in clumps after we're done brushing him.

A bit worse than mediocre
The brush I received had several deformed spikes. More importantly, the brush doesn't seem to do much. The hair on my dog's belly sometimes clumps together - I can unclump it with my fingers in a couple seconds, but it pulls, which he doesn't like. I have to brush his stomach for over a minute with this brush for it to do anything, and even then it doesn't completely do the job. This brush isn't completely awful; it works as well as one that costs $6.62 should. But don't expect great quality, or even that this will be the only brush you'll need. Me, I'm going to buy a better curry brush and probably never use this one again.

works well on wiry hair
originally we used one of those wire bristle brushes on our german shepard/hound mix and it seemed to hurt him and not remove any loose hair. this curry brush is the complete opposite. he lies down, closes his eyes and relaxes while i brush him. he LOVES it, and, yes, it removes loose hair. (the below suggestion to do it outside is a good one)

Great brush for short, fine hair
A few months ago we adopted an MYD (medium yellow dog) from a local shelter. Since that time, our vacuum cleaner has been paying the price. We tried many, many brushes. Slicker brushes, shedding blades, soft bristle brushes, hard bristle brushes, and on and on. His hair is so short and so fine that no brush can catch it; it just slides right through. This is the first brush that actually works! It doesn't collect the hair as you brush -- you just end up with a pile at the dog's feet. Hallelujah!

I researched the best brush to use with a pit bull and this ...
Wow! I researched the best brush to use with a pit bull and this thing is amazing. It keeps her coat shiny and soft while pulling out so much loose fur it is incredible. I also use it her bathe her with and she absolutely loves the feeling of it. What a pleasure indeed! Something strange is that it came with a smokey smell and my dog was trying to eat it the whole first time I used it which was pretty funny and the smell has been taken away with a few washes.Definitely recommend this for a short haired dog! Fantastic brush and negligible price.

Best Pet Brush Ever!
This item really, really gets all the hair. Better to do it outside. The brush was a bit big for my small Chihuahua, but worked well if I took my time as to not press to hard on the poor little girl! I would recommend this item!!
