Absolutely the best choice in infrared thermometers. It's superbly versatile compared to the rest. It's priced right and easy to use. It does much more than just measure surface temps. It uses a K-type internal temp sensor for cooking meats and other foods (especially useful if you like to use a smoker). It measures differences in temps between ambient temp and the temp of what your measuring. It measures humidity and dew points, critical for bonding of certain materials. And most importantly it has adjustable emissivity, which is critical for measuring a wider range of surfaces than what the less expensive thermometers can measure. It can also be use for HVAC work. It Utilizes UV light to detect the ultraviolet dye used in A/C systems to detect leaks. It's so much more than just a thermometer.

Seems to work alright, but I have been using it within 8" frequently in the machine shop (heating things with a torch). Getting a lot of inconsistent and variable readings. Likely that the laser sight is not aligned with the sensor or the tool has hard time focusing on small objects.

There are so many of these things on Amazon, and it'd be so easy to make them cheap pieces of crap. I spent a long time looking at a bunch of the different options on offer and came very close to buying a cheaper one that was less fully featured than this one just because of how many there were to choose from in the $20-$50 range. I'm glad I threw a few extra scarves at this one though because it's been a delight to use.It seems reasonably accurate, is pretty easy to work with, and does everything I need it to (and more). The thermocouple is a nice touch, and while the quality of the cheesy pleather holster sack it came with leaves some to be desired, it's nice to have!This is a nice tool to have around, and it's great that infrared cameras are finally getting cheap enough that these guns are within reach of the grubby, ignorant fingers of laypersons such as myself.

Very disappointed with this product. I thought I would spend a little more and get a good thermal gun than the cheap one from Harbor Freight I already have.While its design and features look promising, it does not live up to its specs. I got this to safely measure an electronic component during rework. I says it will read -58 F to + 1472 F, yet as soon as it goes above 300F it starts to display -91 and there about. I have tried it multiple times and tried to fine tune the emissivity for the object I was trying to measure, yet it still did not work.I then tried to read a cold object that was around 4F which should be well within its range as well, yet here too it would display a number such as 293 or Lo which should not be the case.Wanting to move forward with my project I figured since the touch-less readout was junk, that I would try the included K type thermocouple. This too does not work. It would not register anything over 293F.It just goes to show you get what you pay for. All these cheap thermometers from $15 - $40 an Amazon are junk. I guess I will have to buy a $200 Fluke meter to get anything that will work and can be trusted.

This works as designed and has a plethora of features. From the surface temperature, ambient temperature, dew point and even the Type K Probe, there is a lot of capability for the price. I compared the features to other sites and this Infrared Thermometer gives you the most. And, the accuracy of the surface temperature is spot on. This is a great device!!

Returned this device as it was out of specification re accuracy range and repeatability was all over the place. The supplied external thermistor sensor is not protected so extreme care must be taken when using it. Has a nice UV LED light and a colorful readout screen.

Does everything it is advertised to do. Our technicians do a lot temperature sensing as part of our maintenance check for the equipment we maintain. The thermo-coupler option is very helpful when measuring internals. Infrared thermometer works great and appears accurate. Great display, array of great settings... and the black light was a very nice feature. I was worried that it would be complicated to use but the instructions are easy to follow and it really is not complicated at all. Fast shipping!

Seems like a no frills thermometer. I like the black light feature. It is dim but works. I do not know how accurate this is as a whole, but I assume it gets me in the ballpark. I do not know why it rattles when I shake it. I just want it to work for at least 3.5-5 years and I'll be content. The add on thermocouple does not seem accurate, but I am not 100% certain.Edit:5/18. Now the thermometer reads incorrect for freezing temps. Goes from 38 in the fridge to 300 in the freezer. I only use it to temp cooked food mainly, so its in the ballpark and still worth using.
