Homestar Reclaimed Wood Finish Filing Cabinet, Java Mocha

I picked this one out because I liked the way it looked and also the price. It took 2 people 3 hours to put it together and the drawers still aren't perfectly aligned. I am only using it in my home for personal use so it's ok for that but I would not purchase for a busy office.

Assembly is not easy. Some parts were already assembled, which made it more difficult to built the cabinet. There is also a piece of one of the drawer missing. I had to drill bigger holes to assemble the biggest drawer.

Putting the peice together was a little rough, and I am a skilled handyman. Two guide rails were mislabeled, and while I could see that before installing them and correcting myself, and inexperienced person might have been very confused. The quality of the wood is nothing short of shoddy, even using a manual screwdriver (NOT a drill) I managed to strip 3 screws throughout the build and took them back out, added a dab of glue before putting them back in. (I wasn't expecting too awful much for the price). After fully assembling the outer box, I had decided that it was "good enough" for the light use I had planned for it, until I inserted the drawers and found that the guide rail pre-drilled holes were placed incorrectly, meaning either the top or the second drawer would hit the drawer below it and make it impossible to close. That was the final straw, So i put the fully assembled garbage back in the box and got a refund. Please, I beg you, no not waste your time.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Complete waste of time. Don't. I repeat DO NOT buy it. Take head to all the bad reviews, the odds are not in your favor. You MIGHT get lucky and get one of the packages with all of its parts and the holes drilled properly, but it's still a tedious and lengthy royal pain in the arse to assemble. Not just horrible directions, misaligned holes, it says not to use a power screwdriver but trust me you need it, and there's a bunch of these tiny screws that require toddler hands to hold, now imagine screwing about 40 of those into holes that are too small. Just don't. After 3 1/2 hours I get to the top drawers and there is no way to put them together. Then I had to spend another hour with Amazon trying to negotiate a refund because there is zero chance I'm spending another 2 hours to disassemble and repackage it. The. Absolute. Worst.

We originally had this desk in a guest bedroom but the wife immediately wanted to move it to the master because of how charming it looks. The build quality is above average (slightly above Ikea quality in my opinion) and wasn't too difficult to put together by myself. A second set of hands will make it much easier for sure. Seeing how there are quite a few negative reviews, I guess we were one of the lucky ones that received our desk without any issues. My only regret is not getting a second one when the desk was on sale.

For the price, good quality. However, be forewarned that instructions were less than clean, and it will take several hours with a screw driver (drills not recommended) to put it together. It is also fiberboard rather than solid wood, but I find it sturdy enough for my needs, and it looks exactly as depicted in the photos!

A friend put it together for me, took about an hour. I like the simple look, one drawer is very handy for items I use all the time. I think it's worth the price, not made for hard use but fine with me. I couldn't find anything like this in the regular stores.

The good: Once assembled, the cabinet looks goodThe bad: The drawers are a non-standard size so neither Legal or Letter sized hanging folders can be used. That is the only reason I purchased this cabinet along with the "Frequently Purchased Together" letter size hanging file folders that I purchased at the same time.I'm very disappointed in this purchase. It took upwards of two hours to put it together. Some of the holes weren't drilled all the way through. I definitely would not recommend this to anyone. $60 for a filling cabinet that I can't use for any files. Worthless.

I decide to get a new desk because my old one was a garden table...On the manual instruction book, it's said: 2 people is needed and took 60 minutes to assemble. I was alone and it's taken me maybe twice of time (lack of comprehension at first and i made mistakes during assembly). The assembly is quite simple. All pieces have a number and all screws have a letter associated. For the aesthetic, the desk is beautiful and good quality for the price.The big inconvenient is the drawer... it's very annoying. I can't open it completely, it's stays stuck at the half. It's very difficult to remove completely the drawer. Look like it's not very solid too. I think it's the mechanism himself because I removed the middle screws and nothing changed. Still stuck. Maybe I will change the slidings.

Fits very nicely into my space and looks cute. Takes as long to build as I thought it would (around 2.5 hours). Simple to put together if all the pieces are layed out before you start.

Bought this a few years back. Finally had the time to assemble it. It was a living nightmare to do so. Instructions day it should take 60 minutes, but took closer to 3.5hrsSome of the holes were not drilled correctly so screws did not fit and I ended up drilling in my own.Instructions were poorly laid out and some items were mislabeled. I had to assemble/reassemble multiple times.The bracket for the largest cabinet did not come apart correctly and so I had to awkwardly install it.It is so flimsy that I needed to add extra nails/gorilla glue to hold it togetherVery disappointed

Very nice desk! A little finicky to build but the result was very nice. The drawer is shallow but suitable for our needs. I would purchase this one again.

Pretty solid for a student. The instructions were straight forward. The price is affordable.
