Easy as the video said it would be to install.
Extremely easy to install in a basement drain. Now I just have to wait for a big rain to see if the stand pipe works.

Basic hardware that does the job.
Only problem I had was trying to use pvc pipe with a donut for 4" cast iron. When I changed to thin wall all worked fine. The Gen. Wire products are good quality and I think the first check valve I installed lasted 15 years or more.

Does not work. Creates a larger mess.
After watching several promising videos, I elected to try this product as a stop gap until a proper sump pump could be installed. The mistake was not keeping the 20 or so dollars for the sump pump project. This product does not work. Here's what the product does:1. When it is not raining, the standpipe allows you to dry your basement. When it is **not** raining. And only for a little period of time before #2 happens2. The product shows you all the places where water can come in besides the storm drain. Like walls, floor cracks, wall/floor joints3. Creates a larger mess than if you just allowed the water to flow in naturally and call it a water feature (who doesn't want a meditation pond?)Here's what the product *does not* do:1. Work2. Work3. Work.Don't buy it! Just don't!

Best gadget for videos
Best little photo gadget for keeping a video camera still I have found highly recommend. Keeps your wrist straight and video stable.

but it seems good and tight in the drain
This fits well into my drain. I inserted a standpipe into my basement drain. It seems to be holding well after a few years. I do not think we have had a backup into this drain since I installed it so I do not know if it would actually stay in place during a flood, but it seems good and tight in the drain.

Does not plug water - only diverts
I though it would allow water to come through the pipe from the top and also plug water coming up from the bottom like other models, but it does not; it just forces water to go up through the pipe you attach to it rather than onto the floor.
