A superlative little pump, but probably not capable of 600 GPH.
I bought this pump in order to drain the last ±2,000 gallons of water from the bottom of my pool preparatory to replacing the liner. This is a far different purpose than using it to simply clear rain water from a pool cover.Using the pump with an 7' head, rather than the few inches required for its normal setup, reduced the flow rate from the advertised 600 GPH, to a measured 76 GPH, which I think is quite respectable, given that it's not but a 75 watt pump. With that said, this is a very nice, quiet, inexpensive and compact pump that, if used for clearing water from a solid pool cover as intended, would come a lot closer to the 600 GPH claimed than I have experienced pumping water up 7' from the bottom of the pool. However, I seriously doubt that it would ever come close to reaching a 600 GPH flow rate no matter what setup is used.

Great pool cover pump. Works fast
This pump saves you from siphoning or bucket dumping water off your winter cover. Also helps if you need to drain some water from your pool. Easy to use. Just connect the hose that it comes with, put it on the cover where there is a lot of water and plug it in. Doesn't take long to drain the water.

Good solutions don't have to be expensive
We have to care for a pool in New Jersey (snow and ice in the winter) for 14 years. It was quite a battle every year. We have used expensive, high throughput automatic and manual pumps as well as inexpensive ones. The $200 one did not last two seasons. The biggest pain is when a pump fails to prime and therefore cannot pump water no matter the throughput rate or features. The next headache is a clogged debris filter. We have used this pump for two months or about 10 rainfalls thus far. I am happy to report that it starts without hesitation every time and pumps at a decent rate. It is able to pump until the water gets as low as roughly 1/8 of an inch. Not bad at all. The clear tubing that comes with it may appear cheap and primitive at first, it turns out to be better than a garden hose as you can see if an air bubble is formed and blocking the waterflow (at which point you just have to restart and it will go again). You can easily see to it the it is completely drained between uses so no ice blockage will form. This pump is one of the least expensive ones we have used. However, 3 of the 4 rubber feet came off the first time we used it. You don't really need them. Since the tubing is attached on the top of the unit, it is top heavy and unstable. It is difficult to push it to the center of the pool cover and have it remained upright. It is manually operated. If you leave it running dry, the motor will burn out.To remediate its shortcomings: I wrapped mine, no feet, in a fiberglass mesh fabric (used to make window and door bug screen) to protect the pump from the debris. It is easy to clean; just hose it down when it is dirty. No need to handle any yucky filter. My pump is now attached to a small section of galvanized steel fence (14 in. diameter) to its base so it won't tip over anymore. I arranged it such that I can see the water coming out at the end of the tube from inside the house. Our pump is turned on and off using an electric outlet (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0711DT17X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that I can control remotely and indoor.I don't know how durable this pump is yet, but at this price it doesn't hurt too much if I have to replace it after a couple of seasons. The most important thing to me is that it pumps when I want it to and without fussing. This solves a real problem for us. I am quite happy with this product or I would not bother to write such a long review.

It works!!!!!
I was concerned at first because the first pump which was a different brand did not work and I had to return it. This pump worked like a charm and I am so happy, relieved and it is a good product to use.

Pump
Works ok, but does pump slow.

Very very slow.
I would certainly call "BS" on 600gph, I am using this to drain our pool cover throughout the year since we are keeping the pool closed and it takes a couple of days just to drain off the rain that accumulates in a few hours. Our pool is filled to the skimmer line so it isn't even terribly deep. I did give it 3 stars because the pump works, it just keeps on going for hours and hours. And the seller replaced the original pump that was shipped broken so I gave a little better rating taking that into consideration. If you need something drained quickly, this isn't it, but so far it's been a reliable pump.

IT REALLY WORKS!
OMG! I wish I had taken a before picture. The water on our pool cover had to have been over a foot and COVERED in leaves. In just a couple of hours, the water was almost completely gone, then we unplugged it because we wanted to save the frogs that were swimming around everywhere. Came back a couple of hours and the pool was completely drained. So it definitely works and will continue to work unplugged, so keep that in mind. This has been a lifesaver. Easy to use and understand. I have an 18'x52' round above ground pool for reference.
