AFOUNDRY Q500 Dual Band Wireless Wi-Fi AC Gigabit Router, 1200Mbps Fast Ethernet Computer Router, Built in 5x5dBi Fixed Antenna

I bought this to replace my current home Netgear router that had died. I work in IT, so the configuration part of the setup was very easy. Even for a novice user, it would not be hard. I live in a 2,600 sq. ft. home and this router covers the entire house/yard w/ ease.

I bought this about 10 months and have used it with acceptable use given my internet connection speeds at the time (DSL/12Mbps). I didn't find configuring it too hard with a few exceptions.But my major issues with it are;The first is that the wifi password for users to connect to the router doesn't accept very many special characters, example you can't use ( or ) but you can use !I never saw a list of what the acceptable characters are, so it took a bit to figure out what was wrong with connecting.The next part is unsatisfactory since I have changed my internet to use 1Gb fiber. The WAN port will not connect at 1000/Full, it consistently connects at 100/Full. For those that network inclined I did trouble shooting all along the path including connecting it to a cisco switch and hard setting the port to 1000/Full. At 1000/Full it refused to connect to the switch. I validated that the cable was able to communicate at 1000/Full with a different device (no problem there). When I set it to auto or 100/Full it connected just fine. I found no settings in the web GUI to change the port speed on the device and no command line option to console or ssh.For those that are not network inclined while it supports wifi speeds up to 1200 Mbps, the router bottlenecks at the port to the rest of your network at 100 Mbps. Meaning that for all your network devices you have connecting to the wifi with 1200 Mbps, they all bottleneck at the 100Mbps connection to the rest of the network.I brought both of these issues to their technical support and they did reply. Launty from Shenzhen Afoundry Network Technology Co., Ltd through Amazon Market place replied back about the password issue and confirmed that it is limited on the special characters. She said she would check with her technical support and get back to me. I never heard back.I wouldn't buy another afoundry router again. While it may work it won't perform to what you may need in the future and the technical support is not reliable.

Initially I was skeptical, as i've never used other brands than netgear, but this router is fantastic and offers the same features of other dual band routers quite capably.

This is the most frustrating router I've ever tried to set up. The manual was terribly written, so it wasn't much help. It may offer incredible wireless, but I can't even set it up without hiring someone to do it. I thought it was set up and running well yesterday, but today it won't connect even though it has a full signal. It makes no sense at all! Maybe someone can offer some help? Thanks!

Wow. I didn't have high expectations for this router since it's an off brand and inexpensive, but I actually get better range on this than my Netgear R7000. Quick setup, although you can tell there are a few things lost in translation. I am more than happy with the value of this router and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

This router is infuriating to set up. The nonsensical instructions do little to help with the actual set up. I finally figured out that you had to set the actual IP TYPE (Static, dynamic, etc) before the router would work. After the trouble set up, my 350mbps connection, would be throttled down to 100mbps when running through the router. Even using a LAN connection the network test were the same (100mbps).

Preforms surprisingly very well. Have not had to reboot in a year! I'd never heard of the brand prior to my purchase of this unit. Would recommend.
