Ridge Runner Silver Leaf Pocket Knife Key Chain

Dangerous!!
After about a week with this the knife started to get loose from hanging on the key chain. Mind you I hadn't used it for any actual cutting, just hanging around. The knife is made cheaply enough that there is nothing you can do to fix this without it going loose again. This was a bad situation...upon getting into my car, unaware that the knife was out I ended up accidentally stabbed myself in the leg with it and ended up going to the hospital for three stitches due to this flaw. A folder should not be loose enough to come out from gravity within the first week. I purchased three of these, one for myself and a couple for friends. I immediately sent them a note telling them to toss them, they are dangerous! All in all it's a good knife for stabbing and cutting only because it left me with an inch gash in my thigh and a $800 hospital bill.Pass on this one !

Can't do without it! Invaluble for handicapped.
I've had one of these little jewels for a few years now & I just recently purchased this 2nd one from Amazon to have as a back-up in case I ever lose my 1st one. I don't want to take the chance that they quit making them. You see, I don't have much use of my left hand/arm due to a stroke a few years ago. This silver leaf knife is like a pocket Ulu knife & I really need it when eating out especially. Restaurants almost always only supply a serrated knife for cutting meat. It's assumed that you'll hold the meat with your fork & saw the meat with their knife. Try cutting ANYTHING with a serrated knife using only one hand & you'll see that it just won't work. I had a switch-blade knife that sort-of worked but it raised eyebrows & was too bulky in my pocket.(I don't even think it was legal).I discovered the leaf knife somewhere, bought it, & now, I can't be without it. It takes up no space in my pocket, It's very discrete in a restaurant, it's stainless so I can just clean it off in water, & best of all, with a rocking action, I can cut just about any type of food. Some others have given negative comments on it opening too easy (in their pocket) with a risk of being cut. Mine got this way too but I fixed mine by laying the knife on a piece of hard, flat steel. then I positioned a ball bearing on the pivot pin. With the ball held in a needle nose Vice-Grip, I hit the ball with a hammer. This swaged the pivot pin & tightened up the knife so the blade won't flop out by itself any more. Several months ago, I had to repeat this mend but... This little knife is so perfect for me, I still give it a 5 star rating. Heck, I'd give it a 10 star rating if I could.

hinge is loose. dangerous!
The media could not be loaded. right out of the box i noticed the hinge is extremely loose and it just flips open. too dangerous to put on a keychain and i see a few others have had an issue with it in their pocket and have cut themselves due to this defect.

useful for what it is
I bought this because I wanted something I could carry around and use to open difficult packages --those horrible plastic ones everyone hates. The design made this one appealing because, on my keychain, it looks as benign as a Swiss Army knife. Unlike a Swiss Army keychain knife, though, this actually cuts. I always worried about the flimsy Swiss Army knife blade breaking, but not this. It's sharp and sturdy, making it a reliable little tool.My only concern is that the "stem" is pretty thin and looks like it'll bend, at which point the knife won't open. It hasn't happened, but I'm being careful.

Beautiful knife but no safety lock
I like this knife ONLY for its aesthetics, but i'm concerned that it does not have a safety lock. I have this on my car key chain (for emergency purposes coz i have been harassed before in my car), and it always popped open for me which, thank goodness I have not been cut by it so far. So I wedge something in it to keep it closed. I'm only keeping this coz its pretty and discreet for it being a knife. I would not recommend for carrying around unless you're okay with wedging something in it to keep the blade folded in.

Blade is loose right out of the box.
Pretty, but large and heavy. That's not so bad, but the blade is loose right out of the box. There is no locking mechanism, so it just swings freely. I won't be able to use this as a necklace or keychain. It's just not safe. UPDATED: After having it for awhile, it's not as bad as I thought it would be! It's not bad at all. It stays closed in my pocket, and because the back of the knife is against my hand, it doesn't swing closed when in use. I probably still won't put it on a keychain, though I've gotten many compliments on it.

No Locking Mechanism
Knife in your key chain? Sweet right? Not so much, the blade has no locking mechanism. When the knife was new the blade stayed snug in it's holder. After a month it no longer would stay closed. Every time I grabbed for my keys I had to be careful not to cut my hand or my leg or pocket or wherever it was stored. None the less this knife got took out of circulation fast due to safety concerns.

like my knife
Wanted to replace my lost cold steel push dagger on my key ring and this did the trick. It is a little big to fit in my pocket but still have it on my keys. Who knew a knife would come in so handy. The only problem is that the hinge is loose and the knife opens a little too easily but if you are aware of that you probably won't cut yourself - I haven't since the first week of having it six months ago. Plus it is pretty.
