Glen "Lucky" Singer (Robert Urich, TV's "Vegas") is a veteran airline pilot captaining Angel Airlines Flight 19. When his jumbo jet collides with a small aircraft in mid-air, the plane is damaged so that it can no longer descend. With time and fuel running out, Lucky must find a way to land the plane and save its 319 passengers. Also starring Annette O'Toole (48 Hrs.), FINAL DESCENT is a spine-tingling dramatic thriller. Newly remastered.

Disaster/Adventure
Final Descent The transfer job to a DVD-R was excellent in both sound and viewing quality. A huge passenger plane, upon take-off is hit by a small aircraft merging from another runway and causes the plane to have damaged flaps. The plane can only ascend at full throttle. The Captain must figure a way to bring the nose of the plane down or it will fall apart at a high altitude and all passengers will be lost as the plane will fall to the ground. Robert Urich, the captain, with the help of the military, and the control tower, devises a plan to transfer thousands of gallons of water into the cockpit opening into the plane's lower holding area, in hopes that the additional weight will bring the nose down. Then, just before landing at the airport, the water will be drained out so the plane can make a crssh landing. The problem is that Urich's girl friend and co-pilot, with the help of 3 technicians aboard, and a corporate airplane examiner who is a rival of Urich for a while, will have to put on heavy clothing transfered to the plane by a military plane, along with oxogen masks while the water is being transfered, and has to be done in 2 minutes or less. The co-pilot, played by Annette O-Toole will have to fly the plane without the clothing or the masks until Urich and the men can pull her away from the cockpit and put onto her the heavy clothing and mask before she freezes to death.Just a super movie that I had originally on a faded recorded VHS tape. I had been waiting for this movie to be put on DVD for years. I was not disappointed. The only criticsim I have is that the DVD does not have the feature of going to the "Scenes" or other extra features. This means that if one wants to go forward, one has to run the fast forward feature, or use the "Skip chapters" feature on the DVD player or remote. But, compared to the quality of the DISC and the movie, itself, this is a minor deficiency. There have been many airplane disaster movies out there that were good; but this one ranks right up there, or in some cases, it is better. Get this one for your collection.

Thriller
Good action, thriller of a movie about a jetliner which collides with a smaller airplane, damaging the controls of the liner so that all it can do is climb. A mid-air transfer is attempted by a military "tanker." Also, an attack helicopter is requested to shoot holes in the liner's tail "fins" in order to restore some control to the liner. The story is a bit far-fetched, but the film is entertaining and exciting. It's not a movie to necessarily be watched over and over, but it will keep your attention throughout. The acting is adequate.

Lovely popcorn movie if you don't overthink it.
It was interesting and engaging enough to give your brain something to enjoy while you have your popcorn and zinfandel, and nothing to make you overthink things. The romantic triangle is not worth consideration, the science isn't and the peril is contrived - perfect for a movie like this.Just shut off your higher functions and enjoy the film.

It's a Movie!!
What I disliked were the reviewers that were so critical of the movie. It is a movie after all!! It's not real life folks! I loved the movie. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I thought the actors did a really great job. Surely these critical reviewers didn't expect the solution to the problems the plane was having in the movie to have real life solutions. If they did then they are just plain ignorant and are probably critical of everything in their lives. I thought it was one of the better airplane movies out there and I have seen many. Thanks to all the actors that made this movie spectacular even Duke.

Five star for a made for TV
I was going to give it four stars but that wouldn't be fair it was my own doing not to read the reviews just watching the trailer. it was a made for tv movie but didn't take away from it also it was letterboxed. The acting was very good the fx okay story line very good. It's about a plane that was hit by a smaller plane and it would only climb, not good when you need to land. You need someone that knew what to do that's not in the book. If you have a new big screen tv and choose this to be your first movie to watch on it may want to pass for a while but put it in your watch list.

Great expectations
This show is fantastic the performances were great making you feel you were right there with them every single minute. Sitting on the edge of the seat wondering if you were going to survive. Story line is marvelous very different in most ways to many. Robert Urich plays the pilot with a very convincing role. Co stars were great I highly recommend this show and to judge for yourselves as I don't think you would be disappointed. A classic worth mentioning I'm not saying more as it will spoil the movie and once you start watching it you won't leave the chair for any reason, maybe the popcorn. Sit and relax enjoy a fabulous movie I give it the thumbs up for full entertainment

Entertaining
I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this but was surprised to find it very good. It kept my attention all the way through and at times even had me on edge wondering what would happen next which is not an easy thing to do for me.The film begins with a brand new airliner suddenly colliding with a small private plane and it becomes the pilots job to get his plane back down on the ground with all his passingers safe. It's worth the purchase.
