Good value for the money
I ordered this fan for myself then my friends came over and fell in love with it. I ended up giving this as birthday presents to my friends. It is an extremely quiet fan. Think Dyson quiet without the price. It moves the air very efficiently. I read all the reviews before ordering. The one common thread was the light on the unit was quite bright. It is but when you put the unit in sleep mode the light goes off. I love the different modes that it has and the fact that it has a remote is wonderful. It tells you the temperature of your room. The lid open so you can store your remote in there. For the money I have found this is an excellent value. I use it in a frequent basis and enjoy it. Even my two dogs love siting in front of it and feeling the breeze. I find I use this more than I do the Dyson that I have. I highly recommend this fan

Just like the Ozeri but less expensive
I bought this fan thinking it might be a factory second of the Ozeri which is $30 more expensive. Had a little trouble changing speeds with the top buttons upon initial start up but the remote worked fine so I gave it a whirl. After one overnight the top speed switch works fine so I am happy. On medium and high this fan will blow more air than most people will need. The mode switch is fun to play with if you are bored but is more just a gimmick. It's also pretty quiet. If you are looking at the Ozeri, consider buying this instead and send me the extra $30 you saved ;-)

Save Your Money
I purchased this fan for my dorm room and was surprised by how much air it did move. The different modes were alright, nothing too special, and the fan was fairly quiet; however, when it oscillated, there was a good amount of noise because of the cheap plastic construction. I was not pleased with that, and even less pleased with the fact that the fan lasted only a few months. I plugged it in a few months after I purchased it and had been regularly using it. Nothing happened. I checked the fuse, and it was blown, and after replacing it, it still did not work. I have no idea what happened to it, and I was very unimpressed with the fact that it was impossible to contact or even find the manufacturer of the fan. I couldn't reach the manufacturer and it was too late to return it to Amazon, so I had one incredibly overpriced, useless piece of plastic taking up space in my already cramped dorm room. Not worth the money. Not worth the hassle. Steer clear of this fan.

Meets my needs well
UPDATE Aug 2015: I lost the remote. Seller Royal Kitchens sent me one... for FREE. Great customer service! After a year I'm still happy with it. Runs nonstop with no issues. I enjoy the different modes. Now, back to the past....October 2014:A tower fan is surprisingly subjective: too noisy; air is too strong or too weak; too expensive. I looked for a base wide enough to keep it steady on a hard or soft surface. I want to feel the air at 10 feet; I want a remote; smooth oscillation; I want to hear the TV when the fan is on.This fan fits me well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the flimsy plastic cover over the controls on top has a push-latch but because the cover pulls to the left, it doesn't close easily. Eh.It's pretty easy to assemble. I like that it assembles with just the base, or the base and the column. I ran into problem attaching the column to the base until, duh, I looked at the two pieces and saw there's only one way to connect them. Then smooth going. The base is about a foot wide so it's steady. The air on low is pretty strong but it's quiet. On medium it's still pretty quiet. On high, it's louder but doesn't call for upping the TV volume or yelling :) On low it keeps the air moving in a 20x25 room. On high, it'd probably chill a baseball infield. If you're looking for gentle, this is not for you.The display is on the front, it's round, has a temperature reading but no temp control. A blue propeller-looking symbol spins when it's on. The speed symbol is vertical bars. It says "OSC" when oscillating but I can see that it is without the "OSC" because it's moving back and forth :) Oscillation is 90 degrees. As I said above, the controls are on top with a black translucent cover opened with a push-latch. On mine the cover opens straight, but on the way down it pulls left and the latch doesn't catch. I wish they'd spent money on that cover instead of the "OSC" symbol. (OK, Carr, let it go.) The remote is tear-drop hand-friendly shape with on/off and buttons for the 4 settings. The remote nestles in a recess in the top under the cover when not in use.[Edited August] It has three modes: normal, sleep (blue tree symbol), and night (yellow moon). In sleep mode it cycles: 15 seconds on high, then medium and low, then off. In night mode it cycles for about 30 seconds with a burst of high, then medium for 10, then low for 15. I liken it to ocean breeze. The sleep timer runs 12 hours, one hour each + or - click. The look is sleek with curved top piece and curved fan grates top and bottom. Dark grey base, silver body, dark grey top. The cord is 6' with a polarized plug.I got it 2 weeks ago, been running constantly, no problems. Good packaging. The user manual is about 4 pages, pretty straightforward. For my taste and my requirements, I'd give it 5 stars except for the flimsy lid. I got one for me and one for my son, who's very picky and had a heat wave where he lives. He loves it. [Added August] My housemate got one too and likes it much.

So disappointed!
Fan has great features, circulates air well but if fan is run longer than an hour it gives off a burnt smell and it never went away with use. Very disappointed, really liked fan besides the fact it smells like it might burst into flames . But Amazon is amazing and was able to return the fan.
