FHB-297A Flinthill Archtop Banjo with Case Flinthill banjos are hand-crafted to the original PreWar specs - to the delight of collectors and players everywhere! There are no modern banjos that come any closer to sound of the prewar originals - but Flinthill beats EVERYBODY on price! The finest selected maple and mahogany are used for the necks and resonators and the lavish pearl inlay patterns are reproductions of vintage originals.
B**T
This one was DOA and a previous year's model, beware.
I returned it because it was an older model, there was corrosion on the metal parts especially on the case, which also was scuffed and covered with dust. The tuners were not the more recent two-band type. The fifth string tuner was not at right angles to the neckThe banjo was not so rough, but the fingerboard inlays appear to be ACRYLIC!!!. Overall it is pretty enough. The peghead was well done in MOP. The strings, maybe because the fingerboard was so thickly bound, were impossibly bunched together, for me unplayable. While that would have been a simple fix, replace the nut, the sound was dead on this copy, despite almost adequate tap tone of the head. If that's what RK thinks is prewar, then we're talking 1772. The "engravings" are pathetic. None on the flange nor tone ring. The resonator wall seems thickly dead. WTH? Buy a Goldstar for that amount of money.
