Nice for the price
It's a tap-does what it says, says what it does. Definitely carbon steel, lube it while using it, keep it in oil coat after use like any steel tap/die.Saved me having to rip out a section of drain at the house just to replace a T fitting. Normally I would replace the fitting, it would be much cheaper, but this fitting was part of my bathroom sink drain and vent system. The horizontal nipple from the P trap to the drain/vent T branch had corroded and fused threads. I would have had to rip out all that pipe from the floor to the roof to replace the T fitting. Instead, I bought this tap and big bottle of Tap Magic. Let me tell you, I've never been happier with a tap in my life. Labor and money saver!

Worked as it should
Used this to re-thread a rusted out RV hot water heater. Before, I couldn't even get the anode rode one thread in. After i was able to get the whole rod back in the heater. Well worth the money to get this working again.

Pipe thread.
Used to thread cast aluminum pressure washer pump housing for brass insert since, plastic part broke. May get some electrolysis now from dis-similar metals however, pump will need replacing at some point anyway. Even though I did not purchase two taps to make one a bottom tap, one might considered doing that, if total threaded portion of hole does not exceed diameter for good retention, torquing requirements and leaking prevention of higher pressure applications.

Good for cleaning up threads
A proper tap from a name brand costs 5x as much, so you know there's some corners cut and probably not the correct tool for heavy duty use like making new threads in hard steel. For me, I had an air compressor tank outlet where the brass reducing fitting became corroded into place and couldn't be removed using normal means. I drilled it out and used this tap to clean up the mess. It made short work of the brass and cleanup up the steel threads no problem. Even if I only use it that one time it's paid for itself.

What I needed to fix the shower
So the shower in my bathroom was installed by forcing it into the socket I believe... I honestly don't know how it lasted for so long. I got this little tool so I could re thread the pipe, and the shower adjusted perfectly! one tip: before using, lubricate the piece with some motor oil. It could brittle if you don't

Competitive price, does what it should
I bought this to chase threads on a 60 year old home's sink drains during a remodel. The pipes were in surprisingly good condition, but the old cast iron pipe threads needed to be cleaned up. The tap was tapered well so starting was easy, the hardness seemed good, nothing chipped, and it was the best price I could find. This is not a tool I use every day, week, month or year, but it sure beats paying a plumber if you have the basic skills & knowledge to use it properly.

Did the job.
Use this tap to clean out the threads on a cast iron drain stack for a kitchen sink in an old house. The old pipe screwed into the stack broke so I had to take out what I could from the threads and then clean it out with this tap. Worked great to clean out the threads. Not sure how it would hold up cutting new threads considering it is high carbon and not high speed steel.

Attention RVers
Used this 3/4" NPT Tap to clean the threads for the Anode Rod on my Suburban Water Heater in my Motorhome.Used a little vegetable oil on the Tap for lubricant since regular petroleum based oils could possibly contaminate the water lines in the motorhome. The Anode Rod fits much better now and doesn't feel like I'm cross threading while installing. Good tool to have for future maintenance.

Pool heater problem.
My drain plugs wouldn't screw back into my pool heater,I noticed the threads in the heater were rusted and damaged,l tried everything but still could not get plugs to enter the heater screw drain holes.I determined I needed a 1/4 -18npt tap and went straight To Amazon and found a carbon steel 1/4-18 not high quality tap which was delivered next morning.I gently retapped the drain holes and entered plugs with no problem.I opened up the pool and thanks to Amazon the family were back swimming.Amazon has never let me down love you guys.

Perfect to clean RV Hot Water Tank Anode Rod Threads
The only purpose I bought this tap was to remove the rust, Teflon tape and other gunk from my RV's hot water tank anode rod threads. This tap did the job perfectly.

Did the job in my RV hot water tank
Worked as expected Suggest you have a socket wrench. You can start it by hand to be sure you are going straight but then the socket is better for continuing to turn the NPT.
