Not the same...
I was looking for a dimmable LED replacement for a halogen bulb. At 9W vs. the halogen 60W, this is a huge energy saving and the LED is dimmable - to an extent. With both LED and halogen on the same track, the differences are clearly noticeable; when the switch turns on, the LED lights up brighter to start and does not dim as low as the halogen. More importantly, the halogen bulb, with it's lens, produces light that is more diffused and warm with softer shadows and a wider beam; this LED has a harsher shadow and cooler light. I previously bought a comparable dimmable LED flood lamp from EarthLED (but recently not found on it's website) that is virtually indistinguishable from the halogen, so that is my benchmark for excellent. This LED is an okay replacement and offers energy savings but aesthetically is not equal.

Flickers maybe even if you HAVE THE RIGHT DIMMER
This bulb flickers noticeably, though the flickering is minimized if the dimmer is turned all the way up. It's almost bad enough that I returned it, but not quite. I found another bulb that I like better.EDIT: Someone posted a reply to this comment that dimmable LEDs aren't intended for use with dimmer switches for regular (incandescent and halogen) bulbs. I replaced the old dimmer switch I was using with a Lutron CL Dimmer--a relatively painless operation--and now it doesn't flicker.EDIT EDIT: Now that it's later and darker I can see that the bulb is still flickering, even with the new dimmer switch. If I'm charitable I'll say that maybe it was damaged somehow by using the non-LED dimmer switch and it's not entirely this bulb's fault. Regardless, I'll be replacing it soon, because the flickering is pretty annoying.

Brighter and whiter
I bought one of these just to see if it really could replace the 60W halogen bulbs I am using in the track lighting to light a wall of paintings. The light, even though rated at only a 50W equivalent, is brighter and whiter than the halogen bulbs. They look yellow in comparison. The 45 degree dispersion is a plus as is the very low heat generated by the bulb. Not only will I save 85% on power to light the wall, but I will not have to run the air conditioning to cool the room from the heat generated by the halogen bulbs. They are also much better for the paintings as they do not produce UV emissions. I will be ordering more bulbs to replace all of the halogen bulbs. I almost forgot to mention that with a 50,000 hour rated life they will end up costing far less the the halogen bulbs that are only rated for 2-3,000 hours. I was concerned that they are slightly longer than the halogen bulbs, but they still do not protrude from the front of the can. I wouldn't care if they did.

Not the same color as my previous order
I purchased 2 of these lights a few months back, and then got an additional 4.The color of these 4 are "warmer" then the ones I got in the previous order.Do note, I guess since they use very little power, they are more sensitive to minute fluctuations, and therefore they can flicker - seems to be related to the housing, as when I move the same bulb to a "good" location, its fine, and vise versa - when they do flicker, I just turn the lights off, and back on to full strength, and it usually goes awayLast thing to note, again probably due to the low wattage use, they do not work in touch lamps

Good Product, Better Customer Service
Two out of 10 bulbs went out in a month. The dealer sent the replacements promptly. No more burn outs in I think over a year now. The dealer was surprised, meaning they have not had complaints about the bulbs. Perhpas I had a bad batch. The bulbs put out sufficient light. One thing, the bulbs dim but do not turn off with the traditional dimmers (well, that horse has been beaten to death by many others). But, I am not ready yet to replace several $30+ dimmers yet. The dimmers have a manual off which should do for now.

Not Ready for Prime Time.
These bulbs are a bit longer than most PAR16s. They barely fit in the light fixture (they extend about 1/8 of an inch beyond the fixture). However, the big problem is that they licker to the point of making my wife and I nauseous. They were fine for the first minute after I turned them on, but then started to flicker and continued to do so. I did not have them on a dimmer switch. Returned all of them.

Good dimmable bulb for 4" recessed kitchen lighting
I have eight of these in my kitchen on a dimmer. They put out a nice light and the eight bulbs in total take just a bit more power than a single one of the halogen bulbs that they replaced. One of the bulbs that I received was defective and was replaced promptly. All others have been working fine for an extended period of time now.

Should have read the reviews
As other reviews state, these bulbs pulsate after warming up. It takes about 10 minutes or so before they start to pulsate, then its really annoying. I tried them in both dimmer and straight power circuits with the same result. The bulbs are just a bit longer than Halogen PAR 16s, just as another reviewer stated. They are certainly not worth the money and a very poor example of efficient, cost savings bulbs. I may just keep on buying Halogens.
