Hard to read in sunlight

It gives an instant reading. It's not the same reading as I get from my Thermopen (it's lower). I don't know which is correct, but I'm inclined to trust the Thermapen.I bought it to help control the heat in my Ooni pizza oven, which I cannot use indoors, and which works best in good weather. I don't know any other way to measure the temperature in an oven that goes up to 500C.
