They work with issues
They work, they hold the hood up. However, one of the 4 eyelets (2 per strut) did not fit and had to be reamed out. One eyelet was missing a retaining clip. None of the other 3 retaining clips worked properly so I reused the old clips which worked fine. And all the eyelets were screwed into the shock just finger tight whereas the OEM struts the eyelets were welded on. I would have bought the OEM except they were out of stock. I would recommend sticking with the OEM. 1998 BMW M3.

After all of that everything seams to work just fine.
Shock ends didn't fit the hood pins. Had to ream the holes slightly to get them over the pins. The new retaining clips didn't work at all and had to use the old ones. After all of that everything seams to work just fine.

shorter than part for convertible
I ordered this product for my 328 convertible (E36), but it turns out they are shorter than the factory parts for this model. I got a return authorization right away and then a followup email from j.bavarian indicating that the struts are longer on the convertible and that they would be happy to exchange them. So far, good customer service to correct the issue.

Avoid these knock-offs and pay a bit more for something from a "known" BMW parts supplier
I've had these for four years on my e36 328i. They suck. The clips don't fit into the grooves in the hood support pins quite right - the tolerances are very tight and this knock-off doesn't cut it. The result is that often the damn things slip off the pins. Sometimes this happens while I'm driving and I hear a couple large "thwacks" from the engine bay as the thing comes off and expands rapidly into my firewall. I work on my car a lot (I have successfully swapped in a 3.15 LSD rear end, exhaust, short shift kit, shocks, radiator, etc) - and after 4 years I STILL can't get these seemingly simple parts to fit right. I've tried bending the clips several times, but I'm done messing with them. Order placed for Boge replacements tonight from Autohaus AZ for like $4 more than these. Boge makes factory shocks for BMW. I've never heard of "Meistersatz" before......although they are made in Germany.
