Time travel through the kitchen.
It is a good account on table manners and recipes, as well as her other books, at the turn of the twentieth century. Designed to entertain those hooked on the dowton series, it allows the reader to plan a dowton feast for friends as if he or she had been there all their lives.

I loved it!
This was presented so well that I myself felt like a lady preparing to have dinner at Downton. I loved the tiny but massive details. The author briefly covered fashion, fragrance, politics, and dining including numerous recipes. I just wished it was longer!!!

In dining at DowntonI was surprise by the "mistake" on the last line on page 14. Lady Violet is the Dowager Countess, not the Dowager Duchess !

Both delicious recipes AND interesting info on the series!
I loved the background info in this book about the history of fine dining and, specifically about dining at Downton. It's amazing how much business and politics was (and is) done during meals. After reading this book, I have a new perspective while watching episodes of the show. Plus, there are tons of delicious recipes in this book, as well. can't wait to try the baked scallops, the chicken Valencia, and the crème on surprise.

Etiquette Guide
Missing table manners and food etiquettes is a common problem of our society which has always turned a bothersome issue. However this book based on a perfectly plotted story provides you an insight to all food details of downtown. It has the best collection of learning strategies one may make the most of and provides a detailed guide within no time. This book may provide you an appropriate learning which you would have never even thought about.

Two Stars
Small thin flimsy book not worth the price. I was expecting more recipes and information. Shoddy work.

Deserves 5 Stars For The Information and Another 5 Stars For The Recipes!
Things I never knew but it was so interesting. (plenty of great facts about Downton to share with your friends - they will be impressed with your knowledge after you read this section) . But more impressed by the great recipes, easy to follow, no rocket scientist needed here! Bottom Line: A great read even BEFORE you get to the Recipes!

If you love Downton, this is the book for you. It has great recipes that will make you feel like you're there. It has a lot of insight on the grand English country manor homes. Being someone who has never been to such places, I felt connected. I recommend buying this book and giving it a try.

Dining at Downton; Traditions of the table by Elizabeth Fellow
I'm a bit of a completist when it comes to the things that I love, so when I saw this ebook I thought "great! I'll learn something else about the way things were during this time"; but sadly I didn't learn much, if anything from this ebook. On the plus side, it was well written and it would be of interest to someone who had little knowledge about this era. On the minus side, the ebook itself was very short and I'm sure that this ebook could be much longer than it was. It was only Β£3 when I bought it and I know that there's another ebook by the same author...it might be about Christmas, but I sadly won't be buying it. Had it been much longer and more historical, then I might have done.

Three Stars
It's not the greatest, but it's not bad.

it could have been better
ons of the many publication to ride on coattails of the Downton Abbey craze. unfortunately this book promised much but only delivered the minimum.it barely covered the etiquette and customs of a formal dinner party then lept into a set of recipes that were obviously not proof read as several had missing ingredients . other recipes were just plainly confusing.

Disappointment at Downton.
I have purchased the other Downton cookbooks by Elizabeth Fellow and enjoyed them. This book is not up to the same standards. Once recipe gives the measurement but not the ingredient. As with the other books, there are no pictures or diagrams which would be very helpful.
