Great little pump, and I know my pumps.
I have experience using both submersible and external pumps for freshwater tanks, saltwater reefs, and low-pressure aeroponics and hydroponics. I was turned-onto the Quiet One Lifegard line of pumps back in the early 2000s. I used them as circulation pumps on aquariums, which means they run 24/7 365 days per year. Nonstop. These are up to that task. The mean time between failure is extraordinary. The reason I first tried a Lifegard pump, many years ago, was that it looked great on paper, i.e. it's flow and pressure rates relative to its energy use was top-notch. So not only did I get a pump that lasts far longer than the industry standard, but I did so at a good acquisition price and with low operation costs. That can't be beat. Did I mention that one of these ran in my living room, and was virtually silent enclosed in the tank stand? Try out Lifegard, you will not regret it. Regarding this particular model (317 gph), I used it with a low-pressure aeroponics system. That means a constant on-off cycle throughout the day. It is performing perfectly. Just remember to size your pump correctly go a little larger, when in doubt. You can always restrict the flow with a cheap ball valve, which will actually throttle down the energy usage.

Satisfied
Ive had this running for about two weeks and so far it operates great. It is slightly loud but with some creative positioning and with it being housed in an under tank stand, that really helps drown out the noise.

A New Lifegard Fan!
I have been so frustrated over the years by the pumps I have purchased from local pet and other stores. Clogs, breakdowns, noise, lost power, clogs, freeze, clogs, broken impeller spindles, clogs. Who knows how many lost fish can be attributed to poor filtration due to inadequate equipment. I have been dealing with this for all the years that I have been fish-keeping, over 20 years. So here I was again frustrated by another pump. This one was a very foreign version of a very common design that I had bought from Amazon. And now, the "Quiet One." First of all, it more than lives up to its name. It is quiet, and has been so since I received and installed it. I have a sump system. The pump sits in a 22 gallon tank with a four-foot riser to a pre-drilled 72-gallon half-cylinder. There is often loose debris, because I am experimenting with a soil-based plant system to assist with the filtration. Before you say it, the other pumps failed without the extra junk from the planted section. The "Quiet One" has yet to stall because of debris. I occasionally turn it off and clear gathered debris from the inlet - just to be "responsible."The above is the review I wrote for the 758 GPH model. I was so happy with it that I bought this one to serve as an agitator to aerate and keep debris in the sump/refugium from settling long enough to be a problem. This one is just as quiet as the larger model. All I hear are the sounds of pumped, returning and agitated water - no pump or line current noises. Now, If I could only find an air pump that is nearly as quiet and reliable as these.I paid less than I have or would have for comparable and even lesser pumps from brick-and-mortar retailers. I think I can say that this is the last pump you will buy - at least for a long time.

Louder than my dishwasher
I bought the Lifegard kit with this pump included. The pump was way loud. Emailed called Lifegard. Did speak to a guy who told me to disassemble the pump and look at the magnetic something or rather. Did so, nothing looked a-miss. Emailed pictures and sound video. No response. In a hurry, thinking I just had a lemon, and ordered the same model from Amazon.REPLACEMENT PUMP IS JUST AS LOUD.I would love not to have to leep buying pumps.Terrible product.

1200 is a great return pump
This is my second 1200 pump.I made a sump for my 55gal tank, 1inch down, 1/2 inch up. It worked awsome for 1 year. I used a time aqua lifter to keep the syphon strong.I upgraded tank to 135, with dual returns. Bought my 2nd pump.Found out new tank 3/4 return... I have ~5ft of head. Was really worried that the pump wouldn't be able to return water at all. It does a great job. I run the first 3 ft at 1/2 inch, then switch to 3/4 at the bafful. One pump is a year old and going strong, other is new.I would buy it again. They are quiet unless they touch each other or a wall (just move a bit for quiet again)

Moves water, loudly
Somewhat underwhelmed. I think these pumps have a good reputation because of the old ones. This unit I have is the loudest thing in any of my tanks, regardless of how it's mounted. I'll probably switch it out to utility duty.

Yup fits my need
Used for a media reactor. Performs well and no issues thus far. For my need it has been worth the price. No function issues, came with all parts. Two thumbs up

Not quiet! Certainly Not low flow
Got this pump thinking, based on the market-speak, that it would be quiet and low-flow. It was neither. It frightened the fish!!

Three Stars
Pump works fine, but it floats. It needs to be weighted down to stay put.

No Lift, No Pressure
The head height on this pump is very small. And the slightest bit of back pressure will prevent the pump from working. The longer the pump runs, the less water it moves. It has to be unplugged and restarted several times a day to keep it moving.Don't waste your time or money.
