Large capacity, easy to hold, nearly dripless
I drink a LOT of tea -- every morning I dump a Pur pitcher of filtered water into the kettle and make tea -- about 40 ounces. My old teapot had a hairline crack, so it was just a matter of time. I ordered this one because it looked good, and one of the reviews said it held 48 ounces. When it arrived, I thought "it's too small", but I poured in 6 cups (48 ounces) and it did not overflow, so that capacity is right. (BTW, it was well packaged inside sturdy cardboard, with bubble wrap separating lid from pot.)Even when almost full, it's comfortable and well balanced in the hand. I don't feel like it's going to slip if just held by the handle, as with some other pots I've had. A nice bonus is that there is a lot less dripping from the spout than I'm used to. I won't say it's completely dripless, but maybe a drop or two at most. If I pay attention to what I'm doing, that last drop goes inside the edge of the teacup. It holds the heat as well as you would expect -- the tea is still plenty hot after half an hour. But I tend to drink my almost-a-quart-and-a-half over a couple of hours, so I find a tea cosy is a good idea. All in all, very happy with this pot, and thinking of buying a second one just to keep in reserve. (I'm Mr. Clumsy, and I break things.)

Wonderful replacement
We have had a previous Brown Betty for about 20 years; my husband had gotten it in England. A few months ago she developed a crack. Finding a replacement was not that easy, especially since we didn't want to spend too much. So, while this teapot is made in China instead of England, it is almost indistinguishable from the real thing. It has a decent heft, pours wonderfully and the price is right. The only reason that it doesn't get 5 stars is because the handle is flat instead of rounded, which makes it not so comfortable to hold with one hand.

not a tea kettle
Do not expect to use this to heat your water. It is a serving pot only. I watched it slowly crack apart over my stove in a matter of 2 months until it leaked. Just as well since it came with a warning about cancer-causing elements. I'm serious.

Loved it Until it Leaked
We decided to try a teapot and loved the look and color of this one. We used it for multiple months and enjoyed it greatly. Unfortunately, it developed a micro-fracture on the bottom and began to leak. Not sure what the life span of a teapot should be -- but this one was short.

Was hoping for a richer colour
Bought this for my wife. Was hoping for a deeper lacquered finish that has some depth and dimension to the brown, like some pots. It's just a very dark plain matte brown almost black. No lustre.

Family Teapot
I sort of collect teapots; I have about eight which is very modest compared to one of my friends who has twelve teapots and 51 vintage tea cups and saucers. Most teapots I come across are in the 3-4 cup range. I wanted a bigger pot that would serve four people without refilling the pot, so when I saw this one I ordered it immediately. This wonderful teapot is capacious and perfectly proportioned with an honest, shiny brown glaze (although my sister thinks it is homely. So what? She doesn't even drink tea!) I think it is an exceptional value being both cheap and solidly made and big enough for family tea. Plus it is charming!

Pretty Decent Teapot
The brown version of this teapot is a bit on the dark side - more like a dark chocolate color. And it's a bit larger than my previous teapot, but it works fairly well for me. The good thing is that I can put 3 PG-Tips teabags in the pot and have 6 or 7 cups of really robust tea. And with a tea cozy wrapped around, it stays amazingly hot for hours. When the pot is full, it leaks quite a bit. Certainly more than my Sadler teapot. That being said, I'm happy with this teapot: it looks very nice and provides enough tea for the whole evening.Update 5/17/2013: Once I learned not to overfill the pot, the leaking became minimal. Funny, I didn't think of that earlier!

A pot of tea and a chat
I love my teapot. I brew a pot of Bengal Spice, pour a cup, and have a nice sit-down with a neighbour. It's well made, not too heavy to hold with a full pot of water in it, pours nicely through the spout and makes four cups of tea at once. The colour is a rich brown, similar to the 'Brown Betty', and the teapot itself has a pleasing shape. I left a good teapot up north, have been trying to replace it and this once is perfect. I searched through many reviews to find this one and it deserves five stars.
